I am massively intimidated and horrified by what appear to be your life's goals and dreams which is boring ass LIVING DEATH shit like:

What is worse is that you inhabit this world where all you want is "love" and your social milieu tells you that this "love" is a "noble" goal and that is SO "romantic" and commendable of you - making your entire life's mission to find "love".
I am truly sorry that you have trouble finding this fairy tale of yours, but when your nauseating fairy tale bears down on me like a freighter on a canoe - destroying everything I have worked for these past three decades - then yes, this "love" you seek or "need" is essentially a systematic destruction of me as a person and not only that, an egregious burial of MY FRIEND who never seems to be dead enough for you and who was BORN right in my own backyard while you heap your hideous fantasies on his grave until I can no longer remember who I am or who he was for that matter that. Fantasies which you never seem to attain for all of your money.
Some more of your suffocating fantasies - making a four or five course home-cooked meal - and, of course, you demand ITALIAN - after which we settle down to "movie night" and then FUCK.
You want to fuck so bad and practically all the time while on my part, just getting to the kitchen to get a glass of water without breaking my foot again is a massive struggle.
I made TWO trips to the ER just for dehydration because I was too weak to get enough water in me and I was curled up in a ball while dehydrated for three days so I had a chronic UTI to boot.
You weren't around then but when the powers that be decide they need more "juice" here comes you and your domestic fantasy which is pathetic.
Why don't you take out a personals ad in Italy for an Italian chef who will cook for you and then play a fucking doo wop record and then fuck you and then in the morning you'll have a scintillating conversation about Uncle Tony and his doings etc. Seriously, I did not sacrifice and hurt and cry and lose people I GREW UP WITH and lose my family just to give it all to you in addition to indulging this consumerist fantasy you have where NO REAL WORK is ever done.
I do what I do just to survive because things have happened to me such as: passing out on the sidewalk with my groceries rolling down the street and falling to the floor in the dining room and feeling that if I "went under" I would not wake up and, when I did come to, it was in a puddle of my own urine.
Nobel Prize winners are not a sex fantasy or romantic fantasy or arm candy and frankly I do not feel like spending 200 dollars a week being pretty enough for you anyway nor meeting your family and friends and being bored to death and pretending I find them interesting and of course I am at least decades LONG PAST enjoying being STARED AT by the likes of you as well as the way people like you treat me like a fucking leprechaun NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU THINK YOU HAVE IT.
I thought I was being kind in avoiding the likes of you and your dumb ideas and your bad books and your endless "fascination" and, of couse, all of the STARING you people do like LORDY YOUR SHIP HAS FINALLY ARRIVED. The fact is, I find you dull and a drain and suffocating and maybe even predatory (without intending to be) and those aren't very kind thoughts - which you PRIZE above all else. I cant ever own the moral high ground, so I let you have it because my gospel told me God rewards those who LABOR, at least HE understands.
I was not put on this earth to make MAGIC for you or your family and I am not a fucking show dog and because of the bullshit people VERY MUCH LIKE YOU put me through, I do not open up to outsiders easily.
Good luck, but really babe - what you want in this world is horrifying, not admirable, and the people who decided that you should be applauded for "shooting the moon" or "playing the long game" are seriously scary. Are these partnerships of theirs truly "love"? It sounds like slow asphyxiation to me.

LOVE is when you want to be around someone or have some sort of bond or mission and of course TRUST and I have NONE of that with you and never did, and you can't "love" someone because you had a fucking dream about them, and dreams are bullshit anyway how sad that you have not yet learned that.
I once had a dream that I was getting it on with my dog, and do I want that either? NO. It was sick and disturbing like a lot of things the unconscious mind cobbles together. Being human is gross and disturbing sometimes and growing up means dealing with that.
Wouldn't expect maturity from someone who never had tubes stuck in them for three days, never was given a death sentence, and never watched their own father spend six months in bed until he was emaciated and that was the last you saw of him, only to have people like you treat him like a fucking collectable toy.
Get out of my life. Im sorry, but fantasy and dreams are not reality, stop murdering me with this fanta$y if yours, which, by the way, I never consented to.

About James Strong, who wrote the Strong’s exhaustive concordance. This article is an excerpt from wikipedia…notice all the new bible translations this article refers to.
As I continue to peel back the layers, it is becoming increasingly difficult to process….. everything I thought I knew keeps crumbling away and there is almost nothing left.
The photo is of Dr. Philip Schaff, a fellow theologian who invited Mr. Strong to join the Old Testament Company of the American committee of the English Revised Version of the Bible. These men traveled in networks, and you can almost always find someone flashing their true allegiance.
About James Strong….
His best known work is the Bible concordance named after him, Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, first published in 1890, of which new editions are still in print. Numerous revisions, such as The Strongest Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible[4] and The New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible,[5] along with adaptations of the concordance to translations other than the Authorized King James Version while retaining the "Strong's" or similar branding, such as the Strongest NIV Exhaustive Concordance[6] are also available. "Strong's numbering" of Greek and Hebrew words, have dominated the enumeration of such words in Bible study helps to the present day, only recently being supplemented by Goodrick–Kohlenberger numbering.
For the concordance, Strong numbered every Hebrew or Greek root word which was found, for ease of reference. This numbering system (8674 Hebrew roots and 5523 Greek roots) is now widely used in the English-speaking world and also widely available on the web,[7] where it can be used with many translations, often in conjunction with other hermeneutic tools. In spite of the Greek roots being numbered up to 5624, there are 5523 actual entries, since 101 numbers were jumped over. At the end of the "Greek Dictionary of the New Testament" section of the first edition of Strong's Concordance is the following Note: "Owing to changes in the enumeration while in progress, there were no words left for Nos. 2717 and 3203–3302, which were therefore silently dropped out of the vocabulary and references as redundant. This will occasion no practical mistake or inconvenience."[8]
Further, note that modern Old Testament lexical systems often separate out entries on Aramaic words from those on Hebrew words, a practice initiated by A Hebrew and English Lexicon of the Old Testament (an English work based on Gesenius' Hebrew Grammar in German), which is commonly called "Brown–Driver–Briggs" or "BDB" after its three primary authors.[9]
Another major contribution was to the Cyclopædia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature[10] (10 vols., 1867–81; supplement, 2 vols., 1885–7). Work on this project having begun in 1853, Strong was in charge of the department of Biblical literature, while John McClintock supervised theological and ecclesiastical literature for the preparation of the first few volumes. However, with Dr. McClintock's death in 1870, Strong became sole supervising editor of the project, and with the assistance of J. H. Worman saw the project through to completion.[11]
Mr. Strong was invited by Dr. Philip Schaff to join the Old Testament Company of the American committee of the English Revised Version of the Bible, and worked within that company in preparing both the English and the eventual American revision of the Bible, the American version of which became known as the American Standard Version 1901. The American Revision Committee began work in 1871 and continued to work until 1901. Notable scholars of the day who worked on these two translations with Mr. Strong include F. H. A. Scrivener (who also edited the AV to form the first Cambridge Paragraph Bible, and whose recension of the AV is considered to be the authoritative text), Princeton theologian Charles Hodge, Philip Schaff, F. J. A. Hort and B. F. Westcott (the eponymous Westcott and Hort), W. L. Alexander, A. B. Davidson, S. R. Driver, Joseph Lightfoot, Samuel Wilberforce, Henry Alford, S. P. Tregelles, J. Henry Thayer, and Ezra Abbot. In all, one hundred and one scholars on both sides of the Atlantic worked upon this historic revision. The sources for this paragraph are from Revised New Testament and History of Revision, Authorized Version 1881. Hubbard Brothers, Publishers; and The Ancestry of our English Bible, by Ira Maurice Price, Harper and Brothers, Third Revised Edition, 1956. DISCLAIMER: This might look similar to another post I had posted in the past on here, but here me out: it's definitely different. And this post mentions quotes from early church fathers, but this question has to do with the way the bible is interpreted.
I was under the impression that fornication might have just meant prostitution and other illicit sex-related things mentioned in the law of Leviticus (incest, adultery, etc). No other sources I found mentioned fornication being linked to anything besides that. But then I found these sources from Gregory of Nyssa and Athansius, where it seems like the term fornication is linked to premarital sex. (HOWEVER, I cannot find the original Greek. So I cannot confirm that these were taken from the term Porneia, or any variation from that term. If anyone knows where I can find/buy the original Greek, PLEASE let me know.)
Do you think that the term had changed over the 4 centuries, or do you think that this was the original meaning for it in the New Testament? (Because isn't fornication stemmed from the term fornix, where prostitutes used to meet? And isn't porneia stemmed from the term prostitute in greek?) Also in case it gets brought up, yes I did read Kyle Harper's paper "Porneia: The Making of a Christian Sexual Norm". He didn't use any of these quotes, though he did quote something that Gregory of Nyssa had said.
Source 1: In the Second Epistle from St. Athanasius, Canon XXVI says
"Fornication is neither marriage, nor the beginning of marriage. If it may be, it is better that they who have committed fornication together be parted; but if they be passionate lovers, let them not separate, for fear of what is worse."
St. Gregory of Nyssa had also (according to an English translation) referred to something called "simple fornication" twice in his Letter to Letoius.

"The involuntary deed is judged pardonable, but hardly commendable. I have said this to make it clear that because he has been involved in the taint of murder even if unwillingly, the canon declares him already contaminated by the defiling deed and expelled from the priestly grace. It was judged fitting that the same time of purification assigned to simple fornication also be assigned to those who have committed murder involuntarily. In this case too the will of the penitent is assessed, so that if his conversion proves credible, the number of years is not strictly observed and he is led through a shortened time to restoration with the church and to a participation in the Good."
Source 3:
"But raking through the ash of the body returned to dust and shifting the bones in the hope of finding some valuable buried along with them, this is condemned with the same sentence as simple fornication, according to the distinction set out in the foregoing discussion. The dispenser of course may shorten the time of the penalty fixed in the canons if he observes from his life the healing of the one undergoing treatment."
These 2 quotes (sources 2 and 3) were from a book called "Gregory of Nyssa: The Letters" by Anna M. Silvas. The term simple fornication is a term Thomas Aquinas used about 9 centuries later in Summa Theologica to refer to premarital sex. It was a little shocking seeing it used this early on (assuming of course, it was translated correctly!) I'm assuming that it's the same definition for this.
What do you guys think of this? Was the term changed or was it like this in the Bible?

I’m going through a major life change. I need a couple days away to be alone, cry myself to sleep and eat tons of junk food without anyone judging me. Honestly, I need to figure out a new path forward or just give up.
I’ve looked at glamping places but the one I thought I’d try is booked.
Cabins as a single are too expensive.
Would like something a bit remote (like in nature) but comfortable (air conditioning and inside bathroom). Bonus points for possible nearby trails that are easy.
Not interested in spas, or places where I’m going to have to act happy for anyone else.
In terms of location, would like to stay west of Toronto and east of Windsor. No further south than say St. Thomas.

These are 3 instances where fornication has been translated in a way to refer to premarital sex. (Gregory and Athanasius were both born in the 4th century A.D. (Yes, I have read Kyle Harper's paper "Porneia: The Making of a Christian Sexual Norm". He didn't use any of these quotes, though he did quote something that Gregory of Nyssa had said.)

The reason simple fornication is intriguing is because Thomas Aquinas wrote about it in Summa Theologica, and it was used to describe premarital sex. But he was born in 1225. Gregory of Nyssa was born in 335 AD, and Athanasius was born in 373 AD. I wasn't aware that the term "simple fornication" was distinguished from regular fornication that early on. What do you guys think of this? Did it happen any earlier than these 2 examples? If anyone knows where I can find the original Greek texts for these sources to confirm, that would be very helpful. It doesn't need to be a free source. Thank you!

I just finished reading The Descent and was searching online to see if anyone had answered the questions I have, but no luck.
At the end, Thomas reveals himself to Ali as the hadal leader and Satan. Was he also claiming to be God? It sounded like it to me, but I really wasn’t sure.
The random “dead” hadal girl that the scientists were slicing with a machine to scan her—she transferred her consciousness twice to different people. Was this something that all hadals were capable of? In her case, it seemed like there were triggers that caused it: the machine slicing the part of the brain dealing with memory and the body of Dr. Yamamoto being shocked. When Thomas is dying though, it’s explained that he doesn’t transfer his consciousness to any of the nearby hadals because it would be pointless… so there is no trigger? He seemed to be afraid of death, but I’m having trouble understanding if hadals actually truly die or not since the one in the lab was sliced to bits but still woke up in a sense.
There was also that one chapter about the couple adopting a baby in China. Why were all the orphanages empty? What was going on with the military suddenly accosting them. I got that she found a hadal baby in the dark, but I was lost after that.
And finally… Thomas was the hadal leader but looked completely human. Was this because he took over a human body or was he just different somehow?
Overall, I liked the book, but I did think some of the things were just ridiculous. I really had to suspend my disbelief to be able to enjoy the scholar’s search for Satan. It just felt so far fetched. Every scene with Ike, though, I thought was interesting. Exploring the deep underground was also well written, but less claustrophobic than I had imagined.

Heyyy I know it’s been awhile, I feel really bad about how we left things and I wanted to apologize. You matter to me, I don’t want you to forget that.
I wanted to write this to you in hopes that an auburn glow warms the hardened crevices of your face again, a strawberry milkshake blends your stomach, and that your frozen tears ripple with impulsive cannon balls. I want that for you. A frozen statue imposed in your place in the halls and your hands have maintained the ordered timbre of a reliable mower buried in work. The oil and sweat is nice but you have to let something grow sooner or later. I’m sure you’re feeling lonely, y’know we can’t be separated forever.
Remember when we spilled our guts like water on a house plant? You shattered but we always got you a new home. I hoped the arrangement I gave you would be the last. A couple marigolds and snapdragons wear a ribbon that tells you to keep your head up high. But we both know you can’t, we uprooted in grief and left the past buried. I gave you the prescribed remedy of 50 milligrams of insulating fertilizer so lofts so much now I can’t help but miss the sound of your voice.
We shared the same pair of eyes, you were always the romantic one. My cottage core gossip carried your giggles up when you were stuck in the mud, my still observation steadied your green thumbs. A strategic peppermint salted the iced path where you flourished. Your foolish optimism is dearly missed.
I’m just not the same without you, a Gemini pair of jokers. Two sides round out the same coin that’s plagued by an ace in the hole and a tail in the grave. You were a foil to my shine and being the better blade of our double edged sword makes a slay more castrated than play. A dull boy who left his axe out in the winter. Without you I'm left to let-pay feinted facers, just say-we’re better together. I’m not here to cut your head off.

Those old ivies you planted are growing around that dying tree. It’ll get cut down sooner or later, I thought you might wanna know. Spider moved out of the Willow. I heard they’re both devastated. I guess life does that to you, right when you want to get settled in some belligerent blade tags the best bark. I saw a girl dancing with a marigold in her hair, I swear it sung from seasons past. I guess I should quit the conjecture. I wanted you to remember the pollinated impressions that permeate old hearts and flowers. You were being honest, I do care too much about being right.
Hey, I also wanted to apologize. I know how much she meant to you. Normally you’re the reckless one but I only saw her brightest colors and let you see the darkest. Your burial in a clay coffin cloaks from the cold, the salt, and whatever else she’ll say. I get it. I’m the one who told you “You should get to know flowers, they make a house a home. You need a home right now, winter is coming soon.” You don’t need to cut your ear off. I hear you. I’m sorry sparks flew before a storm but I’m sure you at least saw the forecast. I guess you didn’t see it because she was all of the things you left behind. A Sunday crossword, a stuffed dinosaur, a bowl of sugary cereal. She was a Saturday morning blessing. Pure magic, everywhere she glowed, sunlight followed every step. She was your missing half whose absence was marked by a starry night. Sincerest condolences.
You wanted forever but we both know you wouldn’t have gotten there. I told you that sunflowers get easily distracted, that they wander to the sun past your eyeline. She followed the sun into the horizon then left you on your coldest nights. I tried to warn you, a sunflower turns away out of habit.
What did you expect from a goofy little fruit? A person so sweet they hum to the tune of sunlight, almost as if no one noticed how her roots wrap around the ground. Coincidentally lain about in an act of effortless beauty that just so happens to be on display for you. The deal is one sided. The soil is staked and occupied. She’s not in a position to support or trust right now, just like I told you.

Maybe she did too. Your green eyes paint a pale self portrait but maybe it wasn't so bad. She gave you sunflower seeds, she crocheted glistening memories out of nothing. Remember when you saw her sunbathing last summer? She looked so happy. You didn’t want her to get cold so you left the door open, she trailed some dirt but you didn’t mind. You were too busy watching the rain together; you would’ve done anything for her.
I guess that's when the sky shattered and time stopped. The sound of water crushing away nature’s grays and baptizing the mulch covered us like a blanket. Books and baubles blocked your peripherals and she was the apple of your eye. Her head laid heavy on your shoulder as she ranted about something silly as a smiling atlas guides your future. The weight of your world was enough to carry, I guess she didn't think so.
Where does Atlas go without the world? Shot into the empty void? You couldn’t survive without me. Honestly you should be grateful I kept you grounded. you’re no Atlas, you couldn’t carry the weight and buttress the fair flower. Maybe a better you is buried in my backyard; if you’re buried in my backyard maybe it’s for a good reason. Sometimes I think you’re better at decomposing, she made that clear. She handed me the shovel and you were happy to go. You’re the part we left together.
Your favorite was sunflowers. You used to love how tall they are, how their pronounced stem dances subtly to a breeze, how rounded seeds were focused but not blind. Her animated roots tango danced tangled threads in a tread through a cold world. I bet you were in awe of her casual beauty weren't you? I bet you loved her didn’t you? I remember when you’d eat sunflower seeds by the barrel before you ever actually saw one. Too bad you did. I’m so sorry you found one and it was everything you ever hoped. I’m so sorry YOU blocked the sun. I don’t feel bad for you and I'm NOT going to apologize.
You do that, you don’t listen. You wander to the pasture and then use your tears and petals as ink. Like it was ever that dramatic, your lenses are tinted in pastel. How could you not remember marigold memories of people you cared too little about. The world is too big and too green to revolve around you and someone else. You are a parasite to their ecosystem. You are seconds away from a trowel cutting you off. The dirt you stand on is too good for you. You have no right to make me feel bad.
The early bird gets the worm? Birdbrained. Did you ever stop to notice the flowers? No! You’re moving so fast that you’d rather dig your outstretched head in the sand than stop and think about what you did wrong. You’d think if you were flying you’d actually have some perspective. I can’t believe how selfish you’re being, I still need you in my life.
You love sunflowers more than the sun. But you’re irresponsible and nonsensical if you don't rip Cupid’s arrow out again. I used to want to be like you but you got shot in the knee and I stand above you. I hope nature finds it right for you to sprout from your casket and grow green and bright, and I hope I don’t have to dig you out kicking and screaming.

Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles met with Uruguay President Luis Lacalle Pou on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at the President’s residence in Montevideo, where they discussed the empowering of families and individuals for the growth of Uruguay. Elder Soares visited as part of his weeklong visit to South America, which also includes visits to Chile and Argentina. I have not yet listened to Radio Free Mormon #283, though it is on my to-do list. I have read the resources that came with it, including Elder Kyle McKay's short letter. In this letter, McKay makes a claim that's hugely damaging to all of the LDS church's truth claims. In a single paragraph, he casts a shadow of doubt onto the church from which the church cannot escape.
I quote from the letter:

I have learned by experience and observation that we do two things that make ourselves easy prey for the adversary. First, we say that Satan cannot duplicate or create peace. Lucifer cannot duplicate anything God does or has but he can "come nigh unto" duplicating pretty much everything God does or has. He is a master mimic. I have worked with people who have had profound revelations that align with their understanding of revelation because of how they felt, but they have been deceived. Lucifer can prompt. He can reveal.

I'll get to the rest of that paragraph in a minute, but first, let's look at what McKay has just said here.
The implication here is that every personal revelation is suspect. Have you had an experience that gave you great peace? It might be from Satan. Have you received revealed truth that you could not otherwise have known? It might be from Satan. How can you judge between God's spirit and Satan's spirit? As far as I can tell, you can't, because Satan is a master mimic. This means that personal revelation, which the church places so much emphasis on, is essentially worthless.
So what are we to do? Well, McKay has some good news for us:

The great safety net in this process is the word of God as revealed in the scriptures and by the living prophets. I recently listened to a sermon preached by a Protestant minister about hearing God's voice. Among other things, He said, "The voice of God will never contradict the word of God." Sound advice.

So, we at least have the written word of God, by which we can judge any personal revelation we receive. All good, right?
Wrong. Here's the problem: we don't know what the written word of God is.
Consider the Book of Mormon. Is it the word of God? That Protestant minister certainly wouldn't think so. He might even say that the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible, which would rule it out from being the word of God. So how can we trust it? There is Moroni's promise, which says that we know by the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true scripture... but that might be Satan telling us so.
Consider the living prophets. How can we know that they're actual prophets of God? There are other people claiming to be prophets, like Ellen White. We could ask God to reveal to us which prophets are actually God's mouthpieces... but Satan might come in and give us the wrong answer.
Consider the Bible itself. Is it the word of God? There are other scriptures out there, such as the Qur'an, and lots of people say that it has a compelling claim to be the word of God. We could pray to know which of these volumes contains God's true words... but we might be deceived by Satan and pick the wrong one.
So what do we have left? Nothing! We have no yardstick by which to measure revelation, because every proposed standard of truth might be a trick of Satan, and every test we can perform might be thwarted by the master mimic. If McKay is right, then God has essentially abandoned us, because God has given us no sure foundation.
Did you mean to destroy the truth claims of the church, Elder Kyle McKay? I don't think you meant to do that, but that's what you certainly did. That sure and certain foundation you promised us is looking pretty sandy right about now.
P.S. I actually agree with McKay here, at least partially. I don't know if it's Satan deceiving us or our own brains deceiving us, but I do agree that fake spiritual experiences are plentiful, and when you listen to them, they're pretty convincing. All revelations are therefore suspect, and we haven't got a clear example of God's written word to judge them by, since there are plenty of competing candidates to be God's true word. (Also, even if we had one volume to agree on, we'd still have the question of how to interpret it - remember that Joseph Smith said "the teachers of religion of the different sects understood the same passages of scripture so differently as to destroy all confidence in settling the question by an appeal to the Bible".) In short, uncertainty is the rule, and God has offered us no escape, and we just have to accept that.

Nanorix took the news from the advocates in stride, better than Linda. They had spent the night mutually venting at the injustice of the situation while putting away bottles of gin. Max sounded almost broken by the news while Nora the optimist in the family, firmly held to the belief that things would work out. Rufus was, well, Rufus. Intuitively compassionate, which is why he was laying in the front seat of the truck with his head on Linda's lap as they drove up to Flagstaff.
Linda was trying to sleep off her hangover, her eyes closed but not asleep. Alila had been honest that the only reason Garquile was not tied up in this was that he had her direct protection as a territorial governess. Tommy did not have that level of security and without it, he was in more danger than Robert. From what Alila had said, elements in the Interior wanted Robert dead, other interested parties wanted him alive because of his potential. The situation was so bad the Planetary Governess had stepped in and ordered the house arrest of six high-ranking members of the Interior and let it be known that if anything happened to young Mr. Pierce they would die publicly.
Neither Alila nor the planetary governess knew why the Interior wanted Robert dead, she did. After she heard that the pod found the children and what was being done to them. Her lieutenant had completely lost it, she rounded everyone operating the orphanage and lined them against the wall, and had them shot. The Interior had come in and had done what they always did, cleaned up the mess, and protected those who were important and connected. Before the interior got there one of the girls found a large data server and they made copies. There were four full copies still on Earth and one that she knew was off-world, and she had one of them. It had been too dangerous to keep at home so she had setup a remote server that would once a week send out a heartbeat signal. There were major safety measures in place to prevent access.
She had managed to go to Flagstaff for brunch about once a month to establish a pattern of behavior. Those trips with Robert and sometimes Tommy had always been good, nothing special just good days. She and Linda would have brunch and she would trigger a download to her server buried under the barn. When they had spoken with Alila, Max, and Nora, Max had commented that if anybody could stack the deck and pull inside straight now was the time to do it. She did not tell Linda why they had to come, just that she needed to come up and check on something.
She and Linda had a quiet brunch on the patio of the restaurant to allow Rufus to join them. As they ate she triggered the data transfer. The data transfer would take at least thirty minutes to complete, so they would have a nice long brunch and talk about anything but the boys, she even took a couple of selfies of the two of them to cover what she was doing. Rufus camped out under the table but never relaxed, she was not sure if he sensed her unease or something else was going on that she could not see.
They stayed and chit-chatted until Linda finished her third cup of coffee. She did not want the third cup but they needed the extra time to let the data transfer complete, and by that time Linda's hangover had started to subside. The drive home was uneventful, but traffic was horrible due to the festival of colors going on, it was the 4th of July after all.

Ishani was tired and hungry but had little interest in eating. She and Ensign Tha'xur had been up half the night working to translate the new equations that Robert had created yesterday, with a new understanding of how the translation needed to work. Thoughts of Robert consumed her mind, and she had to fight the urge to look over and watch him, the singular human male. His name seemed to roll off her tongue, lingering from her dreams the previous night as she drifted off to sleep. Those dreams had been far from innocent, filled with exotic and seductive images of him, even in his baggy exercise clothing.
Returning her attention to her food, Ishani shifted uncomfortably. She would need to change her underclothes if she continued dwelling on him like this. Taking another bite of the fruit, nut, and sauce mixture, she tried to enjoy it, but it did little to distract her from watching him. He moved slowly, almost as if dancing, though she couldn't grasp the purpose behind his movements. Ensign Tha'xur's timely arrival saved her from making an obvious fool of herself by staring at a boy nearly two years her junior. It always felt like she was the only one looking.
Ensign Tha'xur sat down with a tray of food and jokingly said, "Ground control to Crewwoman Vevreix, are you awake?" Ishani returned her gaze to her food and responded, "Yes, ma'am, I am awake, just..." Before she could finish her sentence, Ensign Tha'xur interrupted, "Distracted?"
Signing without looking up and absentmindedly playing with her food, Ishani replied, "Yes, ma'am, horribly. It's just... he's just one boy. I have enough common sense to know that there is no way I should even consider... why couldn't he be old, wrinkled, and fat..."
Ensign Tha'xur completed Ishani's thought, saying, "Instead, he's young, fit, and I would even go as far as to say he's attractive in a very unmasculine way, with that wounded, sad boy aura."
Looking up, Ishani was taken aback and asked, "What do you mean 'you could call him attractive'? Are you blind? I mean, he may be a little short, but other than that, he is..." She trailed off, unable to find the right words.
Smiling and taking a bite of her burrito, Ensign Tha'xur replied, "He is desirable, and deep down, I believe you could take away all his pain and sadness... but please don't go there." Shifting into a serious tone, she continued, "I overheard Cmdr Norroe and Lt Cmdr Ashix talking about him the day we arrived. What caught my attention was Cmdr Norroe mentioning his thousand-yard stare that is measured in miles. There are significant parts of his life that we don't have access to because they've been redacted by the interior."
Ishani looked over at Robert, who appeared to have finished his morning workout and was heading towards the mobile kitchen. She murmured, "No one is ever so lost in the deepest of caves that they cannot be found by the beating of their heart. There is always hope and always a way out."
Ensign Tha'xur wiped her face clean of the red sauce that had dripped from her burrito and commented, "You, Crewwoman, are an optimist."
"With all due respect, ma'am, have you looked?" Ishani responded quizzically.
With a wry smile En. Tha'xur replied smoothly "I am technically a married woman and my husband and kho wives are going to be here in three days. I am hoping that my leave request will be honored, we were supposed to go to Tel Aviv for 14 days." Frowning slightly with the last statement.
Ishani gave an understanding smile "Well, that explains why you are not interested. You know, if you want to get the time off then ask for help. What is the worst he can do to say no?"
En. Tha'xur almost laughed at that, "So what should I do ask him over here for you to ogle him and for me to get a chance to go on leave, I do not think he would like that, being that he is here under guard."
Ishani took another bite of her food, ‘alright girl put up or shut up’ she thought to herself, before standing. "Ma'am if you never ask for help you will never get any." This is not a good idea, turning to find Robert who was looking for an open table to eat at. "Robert, can you join us over here, please?" Blessed Nest mother, that sounded so bad she inwardly cringed.

Robert had gotten his food-laden tray and was looking for an empty place to sit. It felt a little weird not having a personal shadow always with him. The petty officers had told him last night that he would be given some space and an opportunity to interact with the people here. "Go out, mingle, talk to people, that's a winning idea," he thought sarcastically. Yup, everything was normal again. Alone in a room full of people and completely clueless about how to do the most basic of things, like talking to anybody.
Now, the people he could talk to were a problem. Being the only male and the only human, he received looks. The looks could be categorized into three groups: lust, curiosity, and pity. Dealing with lust was easy; he just chose not to care, and thankfully, they were discreet about it for now. Pity, on the other hand, infuriated him because most of the time, it was fake. Whenever someone expressed their sympathy for all the things he had been through, he wanted to scream. At best, it was a polite social convention, and at worst, it was a selfish and internalized burden of guilt that had nothing to do with him.
Just as he spotted an empty table at the far end, somebody called out his name. "Can you join us over here, please?" Shit, it was Ishani, the one person in the whole damned place who had a very unsettling effect on him. She was the only one here who scared the shit out of him. Taking a breath to collect himself, he acknowledged her with a nod and proceeded to join her and the Ensign at their table.
He noticed that when he acknowledged her, she just beamed and got all bubbly. That was the best word for it. Her glowing tattoos seemed to brighten for just a moment before she sat down, leaving him to wonder what those tattoos looked like on the rest of her body. He made it to the table and sat down on autopilot while his mind indulged in a little fantastical daydream, leaving him noticeably flushed and uncomfortable in ways that only men could be.
Setting his tray and bottle of maple syrup down on the table and taking a seat, Robert tried to say thank you, but neither Ishani nor the Ensign had their translators running.
En. Tha'xur noticed him stop trying to use hand speak and realized that they had just messed up a little. "I am sorry, that was rude of us," she said as she tried to get her translation app up and running. Meanwhile, Ishani was no help; she was head down in her food, blushing and trying very hard not to be noticed. "There, we're set."
Robert was relieved when En. Tha'xur got her translation app running, so he wouldn't have to stare at Ishani across the round table from him. He returned his attention to En. Tha'xur. "I was trying to say thank you for asking me to join you, and it's okay. You at least figured it out."
Ishani looked up from her half-eaten food when En. Tha'xur's translator started speaking. Fuck, she thought, this is so embarrassing. Inviting a boy to come over and eat with you only to ignore him when he gets here. Idiot. Turning to face him, her brain failed as she smiled stupidly and took another bite. "Hungry?"
En. Tha'xur couldn't help but cringe. The situation unfolding before she seemed straight out of a cliché "coming of age" story, where a girl meets a boy and the universe seems to pause just for them. It reminded her of the sentimental videos her older brother and his friends would tear up over. Poor Ishani, the other girls around her would roast her mercilessly, yet she remained oblivious to the fact that she was being watched. En. Tha'xur couldn't decide if it was cute or tragic. Determined to intervene and save Ishani from herself, she spoke up, "Robert, the reason Crewwoman Vevreix invited you over is that I need your help."
"Hungry?" Robert was caught off guard by Ishani's question. Did she even understand what she was doing? He found her confusing, and he just wanted to finish his meal quickly and GTFO. En. Tha'xur was speaking, but he had missed what she said. He decided to play dumb and replied, "OK."
En. Tha'xur thought to herself, "This is good." She then explained, "Well, my husband and my three kho wives are going to be arriving on Earth in three days. I had scheduled a 14-day leave, but then I received an emergency assignment here, and I don't know if they will honor my leave request."
Robert had managed to pay enough attention to understand that she needed a favor. He had two basic choices: give a hard no and explain that the advocates wouldn't allow him to help until they gave the go-ahead, or try to answer her questions. His best option was to listen and see if he could offer some hints. "I am quite restricted by what my advocates have told me to do, but I will try to point you in the right direction."
Finally, Ishani managed to gather her thoughts and interjected, "See, I told you, all you need to do is ask."
En. Tha'xur rolled her eyes, silently expressing her frustration towards Ishani. She replied, "Thank you, can you help?"
Talking with his mouth full wasn't polite and attempting to gesture while eating proved to be a challenge. Robert sighed as he reluctantly set down his fork, his stomach growling in protest. "Yes, I will genuinely help you. And if you're wondering why," Robert paused, trying to understand his willingness to assist, "it's because you asked. Now, the big question is, do you even know what you want to ask?"
Ishani eagerly jumped in, unknowingly giving En. Tha'xur some time to formulate a proper question to ask. "Okay, if I can ask one too, please?"
Robert held up one finger as he obeyed the demands of his stomach and shoved a load of runny fried eggs and hash browns in his mouth. "Sure, since you saved me from eating alone." Robert swallowed hard after he finished speaking, realizing he had just unintentionally flirted with her. Thinking inwardly, "Shut up, dumb ass. You are going to get yourself in trouble."
Ishani sputtered like Joe Pesci for just a couple of seconds before getting to her real question. "Ok, ok, ok, ok." Pointing to the work area where the Charger was, she asked, "Why is the car so important? Why did you build it?"
Robert shoveled another load of eggs and hash browns into his mouth. "Why would a human boy on Earth, living in North America, want to build a fast car and one that could fly?" Pausing to inhale the bite of his eggs and hash browns, he continued, "Because it was fun, and it would have been cool to have a hotrod and be the only one to fly. Well, that would be a show-off, a little, and to have a shitload of fun flying around in it."
En. Tha'xur cluelessly responded, "What is a 'hotrod,' and why would a flying car be 'cool'? I guess that means good?"
Robert had to roll his head back before responding, to the idea of attempting to explain custom car and motorcycle cultures. "Humans like to personalize cars and other things as expressions of their personalities and rolling pieces of art in some cases. For a human boy to be able to build a car and go fast is a dream. Hotrods are the result of those builds."
Taking another break to move the French toast in front of him and pour on the maple syrup, he continued, "Back to the first part of your question, 'Why is it important?' Other than a personal attachment to the memories connected to it... it is not, in the grand scheme of things, it was a mistake. A very valuable mistake, it disproved one of my approaches to a bigger challenge."
En. Tha'xur and Crewwoman Vevreix just looked at each other and mouthed the same words, "It was a fucking mistake!!"
Robert tried to hide his smug satisfaction. Nobody ever considered just how much of his work was critical and applied to his big challenge. Ishani looked at Robert as he dug into his French toast. "If that was a mistake, what is the prize?" Robert just smiled and shrugged in response to the question. En. Tha'xur sat dejected, "Well, that did answer one of the big questions. The car is a stepping stone to the bigger thing."
Watching the Ensign sit dejected and look a little lost made Robert feel like a little shit. Flipping the bird to the bureaucratic machine that was the Imperium always felt like a "fuck yes," but trolling a person was different. She had asked him for help, and he had used it to be petty and spiteful. "You don't need to ask right now, and if you loan me your data slate, I will give you a couple of hints," he said, reaching out for the device.
En. Tha'xur handed over the data slate wordlessly. Robert opened a new document and wrote:
"If you have 'The Right Stuff,' you can connect the dots."
"Space-Time Gravity is not the same as Gravity Space-Time."
When he finished, he handed the data slate back to the ensign and returned to his food. En. Tha'xur picked up the data slate, read the hints, and found the first line to be of no use other than some devotional wisdom that would be preached in a temple. However, the second line held interesting possibilities. Grabbing the data slate, Ishani quickly scanned the text and handed it back to En. Tha'xur. "Thank you, I think we can work with this," she said. Turning to En. Tha'xur, she added, "Ma'am, I think we need to work in conference room 2 today. It has the other digital whiteboard, and I think we need the space."
En. Tha'xur picked up the data slate and looked right at Robert. "I don't get the first one. The second one could be applied in a dozen or more places."
Finishing his first piece of French toast, Robert tried to remember the order of the equations to point her in the right direction. "Show me my work from last night, and I will show you the one to work against. Don't try to finish it, just try to understand it."
En. Tha'xur handed the translated copy of Robert's work back to him, and he looked at it with a mixture of fascination and difficulty. It was strange to see his work presented so neatly, but it was also challenging to read. He had to mentally retranslate it to the original version he had written. Working through the problem brought his headache back in full force, making the surroundings too bright and diminishing his appetite. Robert tried to hide his discomfort, squinting his eyes and taking deep breaths.
Concerned, Ishani noticed his strained expression and asked, "Are you alright? You don't look well."
With a weak smile, Robert replied, "I shouldn't have done that. I usually take a couple of days off after my little flying trips. It's like working out too hard and feeling extremely sore the next day, then trying to work out again. Not fun."
En. Tha'xur felt uneasy knowing that Robert was enduring pain to help her. She thought of her father and how he would be disappointed in her. "Are you sure you don't need a doctor?" she asked, genuinely concerned.
"I'll be fine, I just need some sleep," Robert reassured them, pushing his plate of food away. "If either of you wants to finish this, go for it. At the very least, don't waste the bacon."
Ishani reached for the plate and admitted, "I've heard about bacon, but I'm a little afraid to try new foods. I don't want to be disappointed."
En. Tha'xur reached for a piece of bacon, saying, "I love bacon. I'll even taste-test it to make sure it's okay." She smiled at Ishani and took a bite.
Robert observed as En. Tha'xur's eyes widened in shock. Oops, he remembered that he had coated the bacon in maple syrup. However, she didn't spit it out, which was a good sign. His mom loved crispy bacon dipped in maple syrup. Sometimes, she would devour an entire package of bacon if there was maple syrup in the house, and then she would try to conceal the fact that a pound of bacon had disappeared. She would even do her dishes, a chore that was usually Robert's.
En. Tha'xur bit into the bacon, expecting a salty taste but experiencing the combination of sweet and salty. The flavor was incredible. She paused to savor the taste before chewing again. "You have to try this!" she exclaimed.
Ishani, with anticipation in her eyes, sniffed the remaining piece of bacon. "Here goes nothing." She cherished this moment, as it was the closest she had come to tasting her nest mother's nectar. Grabbing the plate, she declared, "I'm finishing this!" and devoured the last piece of French toast without bothering with utensils.
Despite his throbbing headache, Robert couldn't help but smile as he rose from the table. "Enjoy. I need some sleep."

Tommy had to roll his eyes at Valenlina's latest attempt to "improve" his wardrobe with a purple satin shirt with a matching sea green scarf. No matter how many times Valenlina tried to have Tommy dress like a proper male, Tommy always simply said no. Early on in the dating, Valenlina had gotten so frustrated that she also broke up with him, not that she ever told him. Her father and kho mother Tearhart had stepped in and explained that she could not make a human be like a Shil. The Imperium still tried, and the Humans resisted more. There were several semi-celebrities on the data-net that advised Shil’vai women on dating human males and females. The most common rule for dating a human male is not to try and change them to be acceptable in your circle because they will resent you for it. You have attracted a human male for a reason, embrace it.
Their walk through downtown Prescott was a moment the Tommy did not have to think about the meeting tomorrow. Early this morning he and his mother had gotten almost an hour of one on one time with Advocate Roskin and she was able to explain in greater detail what was expected of him tomorrow and how things could go right or wrong. Withholding information was one of the worse things he could do. After the meeting, Valenlina noticed the additional stress in Tommy. It was so bad that physical affection had no effect. There was only one thing other than sex that could distraction, window shopping.
Their window shopping trip started as a serious attempt to make him presentable in Shil’vati society, ow her attempts to help him look more presentable were just something they did to have fun. In many ways, it was closer to foreplay now, as Tommy now attempts to have Valenlina dress like a human girl. Tommy did have one big win, a pair of 4-inch-high heels, he had said they improved the view coming and going. Her big win last year was a shirt and tie set for his tailored charcoal suit, he was finally willing to wear formal attire with a splash color.
Valenlina could see her best effort to pull Tommy out of what his mother called a 'funk' were not working. He was still not willing to talk to her about it, she could understand that he was pissed but his silence bothered her. While he had not pushed her away, he still felt distant. Last year's fireworks had been the warmup act for what had followed. She could never look at Mr. Scott's old Ford pickup without blushing just a little bit.
Tommy smiled with a wicked little smile, "Thinking dirty thoughts again I see." he said holding up a pair of women's cowboy boots in hot pink.
Playfully Valenlina put on her pouty face, "What would you wear with them?"
Taking his turn to think dirty thoughts and hoping to see her turn dark blue Tommy put on his most innocent face, "First this is a girl's color, and they would be for you, but what would I wear if you wanted me to try them on? Nothing?" Emphasizing the last word.
With a facade of indignation, "Why Mr. Sandoval, are you implying that the Governess's daughter would be involved in anything so uncouth as to make a respectable male present himself for inspection with only what the Goddess endowed him with?"
Tommy returned the boots to the display and stepped forward to steal a kiss."My Dear Miss Seskie, you know dammed well that you would take full advantage of that situation."
Returning the kiss, Valenlina smiled. "Yes, Mr. Sandoval I would." She bent down to whisper into his ear. "I think we both need to cool off or we will never make it to the fireworks show."
Tommy took her by the hand." Looks like I'll have to settle for mint chocolate chip ice cream."
Valenlina put on a hurt expression. "You are so cruel."
They left the window shopping and continued walking back to the courthouse square. The roads around the court were closed for three days for Frontier Days and the Festive of Colors. This opened the court square up for a giant art show and sales venue. This was the change for local artisans to show off their wares in the hopes of making one or selling to a noble patron and then getting follow-up commission work. The north side of the courthouse was dedicated to custom motorcycles and the east side was for classic custom cars. The west side, known as "Whiskey Row" is where the food vendors and their destination Jacksons Ice Cream was set up right in front of the Palace Restaurant and Saloon.
Turning the corner to walk up Whiskey Row Tommy could not help but feel he was being watched. Tommy had to keep Valenlina from heading off to go look at this or that. He had to remind her, that ice cream was first or he would have to give her a spanking. Valenlina would always retort with, "Promises, promises".
When they were getting their ice cream Valenlina nudged Tommy and told him to look across the street. Standing in front of a face painting booth was a short portly balding human male with a puggy round face. He wearing a well-made black suit, the only thing missing from the 1930s gangster getup was a fedora hat.
Taking their ice cream and heading off to a wood sculptor's booth Tommy kicked himself mentally for not seeing him earlier, he was the only person wearing a business suit. He should have stood out like a sore thumb, but he just seemed to blend in. The booth was impressive, boasting several pieces commissioned by various members of the nobility. Tommy ate his ice cream and kept an eye on the gangster while Valenlina inspected the various pieces and got sticker shock.
Tommy tried to get Valenlina's attention when the gangster entered the booth and proceeded to the cane rack. By the time Valenlina noticed, the gangster was already paying for the cane he had selected.
When the gangster finished his transaction, he turned to Tommy and Valenlina." Well if it isn't the young man of the hour, Thomas Sandoval. It's a pleasure to meet you. As well as you, Miss Seskie."
Flustered, Tommy stuttered out, "Who the fuck are you? Have you been watching me?"
The man smiled, but it felt unnerving, maybe a little malicious, too., "My name is Mr. Rojo and I watch everybody. It's my calling, but I will admit that you and your brother have piqued my interest. I go through life watching the world go by, I enjoy the shifting mosaic of peoples' lives, and how they interconnect. For example, the car that you and your brother build was a 69 or 70 I could not tell with what is out on the news media.”
Tommy waited to tell this to go pound sand, but he need to talk and tell Mr. Rojo what even he needed, Tommy forgot Valenlina was listening as he spoke.” It is a 69, why is that important?”
The gangster slowly dropped part of his smile as he replied, ”It is not important, it is merely a curiosity just like why not use the Confederate battle flag and why the name Valkirey?”
Eagerly Tommy responded, “The Betsy Ross over the Stars and Bars, because it is more appropriate at this time and the Shil’vati Imperium has no idea what it means, instead of erasing human history maybe the Shil’vati could try learning from it.” almost quoting Sean Connery about goose stopping morons and burning books. “ Now for Valkire over General Lee, that is easy, Valkire’s are sexy and cool. and General Lee would get us in trouble, just like the Stars and Bars.”
The gangster's smile was completely gone, and his expression and tone had changed to serious but neutral almost professorial, “But I have a simple question for you, and I'd greatly appreciate it if you would give me an honest answer, Thomas what is gravity?"
Thomas could not stop himself and replied without hesitation. "Gravity is a higher dimensional construct. When projected from a higher dimension it appears to be a force, but to use it as a dimensional construct the space-time gravity interpretation must be inverted to be the first-dimensional construct so that space-time gravity becomes gravitational space-time with an indeterminate number of dimensional constructs between gravity and space."
The gangster looked surprised, while Valenlina looked utterly confused. "Is that your brother Robert's words or yours?"
Thomas hesitated only slightly before he replied. "Mostly Robert's, I can't dream up the shit he does but once he explains it, I can see it. He uses me as a sounding board." Tommy suddenly realized what he was saying. "Who the fuck are you?"
The gangster took Tommy's hand to shake it. "Mr. Sandoval, I told you I am a watcher and now I get to watch you. Have a glorious life Mr. Sandoval" nodding to Valenlina, "and you too, Miss Seskie."
Tommy watched as the gangster walked out of the booth noting that nobody noticed his passing.
Valenlina had been too engrossed in Mr. Rojo and Tommy's conversation to say or do anything, but now that Mr. Rojo was no longer there she angrily turned to face Tommy."Thomas, you have some explaining to do!"
Tommy would not realize until much later, that the gangster had placed the cane in his has as he left.

somehow between the year 1911 and 1923 before became after. It makes you wonder, did light became dark and did good became evil at the same time?

I know people make mistakes. To err is human, and to make a mistake that causes 1/7 of your members to leave your religion is pretty big mistake, but its still just a mistake. *** It becomes more than just a mistake when the mistake is covered up and made to appear as if it never happened. This is what the Watchtower did in the very same book, yet in different editions of that book. Rather then let the mistake stand as a reminder that they are normal fallible human beings, the Watchtower didn't want to be seen as normal fallible human beings. So they altered the past to make it appear to a new crop of witnesses that 'very soon after 1914' is what they had said all along. This is not a mistake, this is a cover-up.
*** The resulting leadership crisis divided the Bible Student community and contributed to the loss of one-seventh of adherents by 1919 and thousands more by 1931.[5][6][7 Joseph Franklin Rutherford - Wikipedia
By 1931 there were a lot fewer JW's left in the religion who remembered what was said about 1914. It made altering the past much easier. If this were the only time they did this it would be bad enough but they did it again in 1975 when the Watchtower predicted Armageddon was a "probability" by the autumn of 1975. They made out that it was only some fringe elements within the Jehovah's witnesses who believed 1975 was going to be the end of the world. That's simply not true. The Watchtower itself is the 'fringe element' where everyone else got the idea about 1975. They have gotten a lot slicker in altering their past, but its the same thing. Here the Watchtower is, blaming their own members as making a wrong inference about 1914 in 1916----

“The Lord did not say that the Church would all be glorified by 1914. We merely inferred it and, evidently, erred.” Watch Tower 1916 Apr 15 reprints p.5888 “We did not say positively that this would be the year. We merely left every one to look at the facts of history and reckon for himself. ... But would it be a reasonable expectation that the Gentile Kingdoms would be snuffed out inside of an hour or inside of a day? ... We do not think that any would have been justified in so thinking. If any had such expectation, it was unwarranted.” Watch Tower 1914 Nov 1 pp.325-326 reprints p.5565

Here's what they said after 1975 came and went----

The Watchtower 1976 Jul 15 pp.440-441 stated:
"11 It may be that some who have been serving God have planned their lives according to a mistaken view of just what was to happen on a certain date or in a certain year. They may have, for this reason, put off or neglected things that they otherwise would have cared for. But they have missed the point of the Bible’s warnings concerning the end of this system of things, thinking that Bible chronology reveals the specific date.

I wonder where they got that "mistaken view"? The Watchtower has making mistakes, covering them up by blaming others for 140 years and never apologized once. But they came close in 1980

"In modern times such eagerness, commendable in itself, has led to attempts at setting dates for the desired liberation from the suffering and troubles that are the lot of persons throughout the earth. With the appearance of the book Life Everlasting-in Freedom of the Sons of God, and its comments as to how appropriate it would be for the millennial reign of Christ to parallel the seventh millennium of man's existence, considerable expectation was aroused regarding the year 1975. There were statements made then, and thereafter, stressing that this was only a possibility. Unfortunately, however, along with such cautionary information, there were other statements published that implied that such realization of hopes by that year was more of a probability than a mere possibility . It is to be regretted that these latter statements apparently overshadowed the cautionary ones and contributed to a buildup of the expectation already initiated. The Watchtower 1980 March 15 p.17 to p.18 stated:

People sold homes, quit jobs and in many cases, never recovered. The only thing the Watchtower had to say to those whose lives were affected so negatively is to say... "It is to be regretted"
