Since the launch of SQE1 in November 2021, 3 rounds of exams were held. There are limited posts and sharings given the novelty of the exams so I guess that it would be helpful to share my experience with the January 2023 cohort.
Background
I am working as a full time lawyer with 8+ pqe and admitted in a non-UK common law jurisdiction with a double degree in accounting and law. I completed a master of law in a UK university around 10 years ago. I pass the SQE1 in the first attempt in the January 2023 diet and acheive 80%+ for both FLK1 and FLK2.
Prep School
The first common question is whether you need a prep school. The views expressed below are entirely personal opinions since each person would have their own studying methods and preferences.
In my view, prep school is essential if
(a) you have not completed your legal qualification (such as LLB/GDL/PGDL) in the UK; or
(b) you have graduated for some time and you have forgotten large chunks of laws back in your study; or
(c) you work full time (be it a lawyer or a house taker or whatever) and you do not have sufficent resources to research and locate the study material.
The second common question is which prep school you should choose. I formed a study group with a few friends. In order to maximize our resources, we have each subscribed different prep schools and compared the materials (Barbri / QLTS / OUP / UoL). DISCLAIMER: all comments are personal and each user would have different feelings on the course providers.
Based on the table, one would probably agree that each prep school has its strengths and weaknesses. Further, the comments would very much depend on personal preferences. In choosing a prep school, I would recommend you trying the free session of each prep school first.
Studying for the Exam
After selecting the proper prep school, it is time for you to study. So, the third question is how much time you need to prepare for the exam.
Again, it depends a lot of the circumstances. In my view, the following two elements would be of significant weight: (a) a common law background; and (b) your practice area.
If you have a common law background, for tort, contract, criminal, trust and business law, you should already have a basic, if not sound foundation on these topics. One may just simply flip through the relevant chapters in the prep school manuals and then start doing the practice questions.
The other topics are more tricky and this is when your practice area is relevant. If you are a litigator, you may find civil procedure very easy. If you work as a criminal defender, no doubt criminal procedure (and some of the public law topics) would be at your finger tips but you probably would like to spend more time on other areas.
For people who do not complete a UK law degree: land law and property practice are big problems and they contribute around 35% of questions in FLK2. You should be prepared to spend a lot of time on these two areas since the UK land law is very different from other common law jurisdictions. I would suggest that anyone who has issues with land law to buy a copy of Concentrate Land Law from OUP. I find that if you know this book inside out, you probably will master at least half of the questions related to land law and property practice in FLK2.
Personally, I prepared the exam for 8 months. I rarely studied in weekdays due to work commitment (except for the last month before the exam) and I spent around 5 to 6 hours each day on Saturdays and Sundays. I took around 10 days off before the exam and spent around 6 hours a day to revise. Instead of reading books, I spent a lot of time doing practice questions and reviewed the explanations. I completed all the practice questions and the 30 mock exams in QLTS package. On balance, 65% of my time were on FLK2 topics while the remaining in FLK1 topics.
Speific topics: Ethics, financial services, solicitor accounts and tax
Many candidates are uncomfortable in these topics.
However, in the real exam, for ethics, the fact patterns are relatively straight forward and are covered in most prep school manuals. These are easy marks which one could get without difficulties.
The topic of financial services only appears in FLK1. It is NOT NECESSARY for you to memorize the complex rules (as found in QLTS books). In the examination, they only test you basic concepts (such as when authorizations and exemptions apply, note the special rules for insurance). The UoL books in my view better reflect what are examinable for this topic.
The topic of solicitor accounts is painful to some candidates. It is only tested in FLK2. As someone with accounting background, I only spend 30 minutes to read through the relevant rules on the SRA website and then start doing the practice questions. If you know the underlying concepts, the question is simply a formality. Again, I would recommend UoL books for those who are struggling with this topic.
Tax is a headache to most candidates. However, given the structure of the exam, one would probably safe to conclude that inheritance tax and stamp duty land tax would normally be found in FLK2 whereas income tax is usually in FLK1. In the real examination, I recall that there are only 2 or 3 questions which involve very simple calculation. So there is simply no need to worry if you are weak at maths. Further, the questions test on major topics (such as business relief exemption, captial gain exemption for own residence or small sum relief for inheritance tax). You do not need to learn very specialized rules (they are for accountants). If you do not have enough time, giving up tax topics is possible.
Passing the Examination
The exam adopts a multiple choice style and you need to choose the best answer from 5 options. You are required to answer 180 questions for each FLK.
Naturally, controversial or developing topics cannot be tested (although you will find them to be the major components in your law school exam questions), for example: whether detriment is needed for promissory estoppel to arise; whether a book debt could be the subject of a fixed charge; whether remedial constructive trust exists in law; whether you need an actual knowledge or constructive knowledge in a knowing receipt claim etc..
In my experience, out of 180 questions for each FLK,
(a) around 20% are simple factual recall or book work question in very familiar fact patterns (examples: effect of a contract under misrepresentation: a voidable contract as opposed to a void contract; transfer of equitable interest of a property: when the contract is signed);
(b) another 30% are less familar fact scenario questions which you need to apply the relevant laws;
(c) another 30% are advanced questions where the correct legal principles are stayed in 2 or 3 options but only one is applicable to the specific facts. You would need to use the method of elimination; and
(d) the remaining 20% questions test on very uncommon topics or very specialized issues (example: extended period of professional indemnity insurance if the original insurance is expired: the 30 + 60 days model). This 20% can be fairly ignored since most candidates would not be able to answer.

As everyone knows, the mechanic of the Unbidden (and the Scourge) is very lacking compared to the Contigency, which at least have more problem than just fleet power to worry about.
Therefore, I suggest a little chance to the Unbidden, to turn it from a strictly military problem to a mix between economic, military and research.
Previously, we had to clean out all of their anchors before blasting the portal shut to end them for good. This is usually a very tedious job to find these anchors, plus it just didn't make sense that kinetic rounds can close off an interdimensional portal. So, I suggest changing the portal mechanic:
- The portal cannot be attacked but requires a special project to close it.
- Upon Unbidden spawn, everyone will receive a situation "Study the Unbidden" with 4 stages at 250, 500, 1000, and 2000 progress, not automatically increase. Each Unbidden ship killed will add 2/4/8 progress depending on ship size, killing outpost net 4 and dimensional anchor net 8. Upon the end of each stage, the situation will freeze until its associated special project is completed. Flavor text can be something like "We know next to nothing about these extradimensional invaders. If we want to close the portal for good, we need to study them to find a way. And the only way we could do that is blasting them to space dust and study the remnants."
Killing any extradimensional count toward situation progress, regardless of factions.
- Stage 1 (0 - 250): Upon completion, spawn Special Project "Extradimensional Energy Principle" that costs (50k + 10k*crisis strength) physical research that allows us to understand the Unbidden's constitution.
- Stage 2 (250 - 500): Special Project "Matter Disintegrator Mechanic" upon completion, that focuses on the dimensionality mechanic of the Unbidden weapons. Cost (100k + 15k* crisis strength) physic research, unlock Matter Disintegrator upon completion.

I have undiagnosed bdd (body dysmorphic disorder) and I'm sure cause i just feel the ugliest person on earth and can't look at the mirror without feeling disgusted. Not only that I've been suffering from depression and anxiety with some really bad panick attack scenarios (like 6) for the last 3 years. I ran away from my mums house twice, now im living with my sister in another state and on my first stable job (the first ive been more than 2 months without quitting).
Idk what to do cause i have desires and dreams that i could do something big. I've been eating pretty healthy, tryna sleep enough, taking vitamins, going to the gym sometimes etc. But many days i juts feel like a piece of shit, 0 dopamin in my brain, suffering just to exist and just wanna die so bad... It's like no matter what i do I'm stuck in this cycle and of course i go through this alone, im a fking incel despite some times ppl compliments me about my appearance or my personality but I can't just absorb that, it's a mess. After all I confess I'm too lazy and don't have money to go to therapy and buy expensive antidepressants, just feel helpless.

Hi all, this is my first-time doing a first-impressions review for Sword cards. Gotten a bit bored with loot and this new expansion might have multiple viable sword decks (rally, commander and hero)

The offensive Legendary card for this expansion. Lecia is back, with Nano. 3pp 2/3 bane with rally 15 getting a 1pp twilightblade and evo summon a support cannon. Pretty good card with twilight blade able to clear board annd push face damage. Support cannon is also gonna be seen in Commander sword as it needs to be dealt with else you are just gonna get pinged repeatedly and can make lethal easier as toilet invocs will also trigger the cannon
Will see play in both pure rally as a finisher with dualblader, and commander sword as a possible evo target as she can be pulled by Maximus.
Only downside is no midgame rally payoffs so can be bricky + 3pp legendary meme is real.

Galdr, Heroic Headmaster
Defensive Legendary for this expansion. 7pp summon 2 other cards for 14/13 board over 3 bodies (2 wards, 1 rush) + giving damage reduction to followers and face even if destroyed. VB with lesser protection and no accel but more consisten application of the protection. This card's effect is good imo despite being a brick early so i don't see him being played 3 copies most of the time.
People say he's a worse VB due but hardly people play VB for the main body in most matches as he is easy to deal with (unless mirror of course) and his protection is gone. Galdr is able to stall out a turn 95% of the time as 2 wards with damage reduction on all allies will block most otk or chip damages that brings you in lethal range. IF Weiss is gets popular enough and somehow survives the previous turn, dropping Galdor is gameover.
Won't see play in commander sword, but will see play in pure rally as the 3 bodies might bring you to rally 15 for Lecia + TwilightBlade + Dualblader to deal 15 damage on T8, which might not be spectacular but may be enough as the threathening board created by Galdor needs to be dealt with which limits the healing options.

Before we move on, let's talk about Mars's buff as it will affect further cards below.
Mars's now evo for free but summon amulet requirements is still there, however the +1/+1 buff now affects played followers (instead of officers, so neutrals and herself count as well) and now gets rush and clash for 1 leader damage. Herself getting the rush and clash effect means drawing more than 1 copy of her is not a waste as she still has bane and a freevo.
Imo, she's now better but not a must, However she can now be slotted better into Hero decks as all non-legendary Hero cards are officers. The amulet is generally good for the aggressive deck + the clash makes trading into the buffed hero cards a nightmare as well.

Agile Twinblader
Radiel lite. 4pp 3/3 with rally15 payoff for doublestrike and autoevo. Easily the Rally finisher and 3 in every rally deck. With forged weaponry deals 18 damage and adding twilight blade is 23 damage otk for 8pp
Simple effect, nothing much else to say here. The +0/+2 is whatever and the only downside is you don't want to play this early and can be somewhat regarded as a brick due to no midgame rally effect.

One-sided ELta on 4PP is broken if he cannot be answered. Reminds me how VB used to be. Probably for Control Sword or possible UL Sword as he is tougher to remove than Elta and early boards can stick more often.
Fanfare is the most important keyword but no protection means he can be dealt with by spells. However, relying on fanfares to deal with him can result in less efficient trades as he has 6 def.
Might see play more in the future but now is not the time as Sword lacks good and cheap wards

Mid-Game Rally payoff (although rally 10 is T6 level). 3pp 3/3 ward is ok if you just have to drop her on curve but rally 10 effects of Destroy 1 + 3 burn damage is good to push chip damage. Getting pulled by Maximum is not good but at least having a ward is decent in that situation
Can be used with Mars, as giving rush and ward makes the clash effect even better to keep chipping away. Good for normal Rally as well to protect while keeping the enemy low for Twinblader to finish on T7/T8.
Sadly 3pp is very competetive however 2 slots has opened with Octrice and Kage leaving so she might slot in behind Lecia. Additionally, Rally10 is mostly T6 play, and if the effect is on Rally8 she will be much better

Pretty crap. 6PP 6/6 summon 2 fortress defender is meh due to it bricking early with no accel and body is not powerful enough to make up for it. Solid Take2 due to the stats dump and minimum draw 3 on evo.

Now this is pretty good. 3pp deal 4 random and summon 2 heavy knights is awesome pushing rally early + tempo. Rally 10 payoff is also summon 2 2/2 storm instead. Better Stroke of Conviction pp-wise is majority of situations.
Best Silver imo, however this will change if Mars gets more popular as this card is not useful there. Good early and mid-game card for generic Rally Sword

Now i can't call the Headmaster Tony anymore.
We finally get a cheap Commander Tutor with rally 10 autoevo. This card is great as now you can tutor Mars, making geting her more consistent by first evo turn. Additionally Rally 10 freevo is ok, but honourable theif already did that on rally 7 many years ago. You can also tutor Valient Fencer as well, which is also a critical card for Hero Sword.
Indispensible for Mars and Hero decks, may see in rally decks for being a tutor.

We lost the 1pp penguin guardian to get a 2pp bling penguin for loot. Loot replacement for the 2pp thief but gilded blade and no ambush puts it much worse off. Loot is going to die and this card won't even save it partially.

Hi guys,
I am using a raspberry pi 3a+ running Raspberry pi OS (32 bit) debian 11.6 (should just be the latest).
I am using a SARA-R510M8S gps module which is on an ozzmaker pihat board:

I am connecting to the GPS module through the terminal with minicom, and have divided the serial0 channel into 4 multiplexed channels to send commands to the module and view NMEA strings from it at the same time. I am able to send commands and view NMEA strings from the GPS as expected in the different channels; /dev/ttyGSM1 through /dev/ttyGSM4. After a varying amount of time, however, the minicom serial channels will become unresponsive and I will have to power cycle the GPS to get them to work again. ttyGSM3 will usually constantly print out NMEA strings. After some amount of time leaving the channel and reentering it will result in more strings being printed, and I will no longer be able to type in the other serial minicom serial channels to send commands to the GPS. This is without gpsd/gpsmon/cgps installed.
The SARA-R5 has a cellular module which can be used for assisted GPS to speed up the time to get a fix. Using the assisted GPS mode with the cellular module does work, but doing so will result in some garbage characters in the NMEA strings being output like this:

Using the unassisted mode (but still having the cellular module on or off) results in it taking longer for the channels to become unresponsive, but they do eventually become unresponsive. When gpsd is installed, trying to enter the serial channel /dev/ttyGSM3 (where gpsd gets its data from and where the NMEA strings are output) will return the error "minicom: cannot open /dev/ttyGSM3: Device or resource busy". If I keep running the command, it will eventually let me enter the channel, but it will have no data, and the other channels will be unresponsive, as described above.
I normally use this setup with gpsd and gpsmon or cgps. I have tried putting it outside and have been able to successfully get a fix, both in assisted and unassisted modes, but in both cases, the gps would eventually become unresponsive.
I have made sure that the stop and parity bits are set correctly (8N1) as is the baud rate, and have ensured that the serial channel pins on the raspberry pi work on their own. I don't think that overheating of the raspberry pi or the gps module is an issue since the raspberry pi remains responsive and has ~15-20% processor utilization the whole time. The gps module gets warm when indoors, but I get the garbage in the NMEA strings regardless of temperature. When I placed them outside to get a fix, the gps module didn't get warm to the touch since it was cold enough outside, but still became unresponsive as described above.
I have tried completely reformatting/reinstalling the sd card on the raspberry pi but am still having the same issues. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

My girlfriend and I like to play local matches against bots every night and we like to play them on recruit just to relax before bed. We've been doing this every night for about a year or so and she was able to perform finishing moves at least 3 times per game. Now I still play MW2 and find myself high on leader boards pretty often, I am by no means a professional level player with a career K/D in MW 2019 of 1.0 in 1387 games and 0.97 in 358 games in MW2.
Right around when MW2 came out we noticed the bots are getting much more difficult. Their behavior does not reflect recruit difficultly examples being
One shotting with marksman rifles across the map with no optic
Pre-firing
Seemingly seeing us through walls and always knowing where we are
These are things that we never saw before and it is quickly making a relaxing time to a very frustrating time.
I'm unsure if we're losing our minds or the AI seems to be getting better or learning how we play and is adapting
Either way its driving us crazy any help would be appreciated

Hello! I'm trying to create an ethernet -> wifi ap for my college apartment with a Pi 3B+
Currently, I'm able to connect to the ap with the default settings, but clients have no internet (the pi has internet via eth0). I've been through https://docs.raspap.com/repeate and https://docs.raspap.com/faq/ a couple times, but no luck :(
I have a hunch that it might be something with the DHCP settings, but I'm not quite sure. I currently have this in my DHCP Server tab: + Interface: wlan0 + Adapter IP Address Settings: DHCP + Metric: 205
My routing table also seems to have a lot less than what is shown in https://docs.raspap.com/repeate. I have: + default via 192.168.80.1 dev eth0 proto dhcp src 192.168.83.17 metric 202 + 192.168.80.0/22 dev eth0 proto dhcp scope link src 192.168.83.17 metric 202
I'm a little at a loss at how to continue. What would be the next step(s) to troubleshoot?

Hi,
I just received my SD and wanted to test one of my fav game on it, Battle Brothers. It runs smootly at almost a constantly solid 60 fps but I have an issue... each time I kill someone, the fps drop from 60 to 30, it last only one second but it's really annoying.
I opened the graph to see if I can find something and it appears that each time the fps drop, one of the CPUs become from green to orange/red (not each time the same), one second later, when the drop disappear, the number is back to green.
Someone can help me ? I'm a new SD user, I know nothing about possible tweaks and settings amelioration :)
