2023.03.26 08:42 TheosRW Divine Energy

Overview

Divine Energy is a special type of energy that resides in the soul of individuals whose ancestors were blessed by one of the Divine Dragons, the gods of the world.
People with divine energy can use it to create various elemental techniques.
Divine Energy is pumped throughout the body via the Soul, along a series of vessels that run along the same paths as blood vessels.
Divine Energy can run out, but can be recharged via meditation, other Divine Energy users lending you their power, consuming food or energy boosting medicine, or resting.
When your Divine Energy has ran out, you can still use elemental techniques at the risk of burning up your own life force as fuel, and potentially rapidly aging your body.

The 10 Elements

Water - Blessed by the Water Dragon, goddess of the seas, beauty, and love. Water users have control over almost anything that’s in a liquid state - they can control existing bodies of liquid, or even turn their physical forms into liquid if they trained in a technique that allows them to do so. Water users specialize in stringing attacks together for fluid combos.
Air - Blessed by the Air Dragon, Goddess of travel, choices, and direction. Air users control over the wind, and can use it to attack their enemies, enhance their own speed, or take a gaseous form. Air users can recharge their divine energy quicker than others.
Fire - Blessed by the Fire Dragon, God of Honorable Combat & War. Fire users have control over flame, and can bend existing sources of flame to their will or generate fire from their body by burning the oxygen around them. Fire users generally have the highest attack potency, but drain their divine energy quicker.
Earth - Blessed by the Earth Dragon, God of Earthly Riches and the Harvest. Has control over all forms of rocks and minerals, as well as metals. Generally better at defensive techniques.
Moon - Blessed by the Silver Dragon, God of the Wilderness, Moon, and Beast. All Moon users are born with a spirit animal inside them, and can form various techniques based around what animal that is, as well as being able to bend and produce lunar light. Moon users are stronger under a full moon.
Ice - Blessed by the Crystal Dragon, Goddess of Fall, Winter, and Hardship. Ice users have control over solid forms of liquid, as well as the cold in general. Ice users specialize in blocking the flow of or sapping spiritual energy.
Lightning - Blessed by the Storm Dragon, God of Trickery, Mischief, and Heavenly Wrath. Lightning users have control over plasma, energy and sound waves. Generally have the most reserve divine energy.
Sun - Blessed by the Sun Dragon, Goddess of Warmth, Light, and Civilization. Users of the Sun Element can bend and create sources of light. They’re at their strongest when it’s High Noon.
Wood - Blessed by the Wooden Dragon, Goddess of Spring, Summer, and Plant Life. Users can bend almost any form of plant life to their will, and use their energy to make plants rapidly grow. Specialize in healing.
Shadow - Blessed by the Shadow Dragon. God of Death & Judgement. Shadow users can move through darkness, call upon and harness energy from the dark realm, and bend the undead to their will.

Cross Elements & Bloodlines

If someone is born one element, they can learn technique from a compatible cross element. Cross Elements are as follows:
Water - Ice
Air - Lightning
Fire - Sun
Earth - Wood
Moon - Shadow
Techniques learnt from a cross Element will never be as powerful as techniques developed with your primary element.
Someone born between the Union of two compatible elements will have a innate talent of both. Their elemental techniques will be stronger than a purebred’s cross element, but a trained purebred’s primary element will be stronger than both the halfbreed’s elements almost without exception.
A Union of two incompatible elements will result in twins being born, one child taking to one element and the other taking the opposite.
Regardless if a user is born from parents with the same element, is a twin from two parents with an incompatible element, or is born from an elemental parent and a normal human, they’re all considered purebred, though purebreds born from the same element are considered more desirable.
Purebred family lines who repeatedly have children with normal humans throughout the generations run the risk of their elemental powers becoming a recessive trait. This phenomenon has resulted in seemingly normal humans unaware of their heritage having a child with full blown elemental powers.
Two halfbreeds having children is generally considered impossible, unless both their elements are compatible. A halfbreed having a child with a purebred, compatible halfbreed, or normal human will usually result in their child being 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 elements, rather than twins or triplets being born.

Special Items

There are certain items in this world that interact with how elements function.
Divine Gold - Enhances the potency and power of elemental techniques. If one can afford it, an element user can use Divine Gold to replace lost limbs, as master smiths can forge it in a way it can meld with your spirit vessels.
Demon Silver - Reflects and cancels out elemental attacks. While usually mined and forged into cuffs and prison cells to contain element users, it can also be forged into armor and even weapons.
Spirit Ink - Most commonly used by the moon tribes, Spirit Ink is used to focus divine energy at a certain part of the body to preform certain techniques, though it can also be used to conserve or outright seal away Divine Energy.
Sacred Jewels - Gemstones that can enhance the power of elements, but only for specific ones, and it’s not as potent as Divine Gold, though they can be used in tandem with it for a further boost. The sacred gemstone for fire, for example, is ruby.

Alternative forms of Power

Willpower - Humans with an absurdly high willpower can access a pseudo Divine Energy that allows them to preform superhuman feats of strength, speed, and agility. However, this can only be accessed by a ‘trigger’, usually in a life or death situation where determination to achieve a goal is at its strongest. It takes a human to have a considerable amount of training and physical ability beforehand before this trigger can take place, and it takes a considerable amount of training afterwards to consistently use these abilities without relying on another trigger.

2023.03.26 08:37 richoka How Do You Know If You’ve Reached The Point Of No Return With The Lord?

“When ‘Eli was very old, he heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel, and that they were having sex with the women doing service at the door of the tent of meeting. He asked them, ‘Why are you doing things like this? I am hearing bad reports about you from all these people.'”-1 Samuel 2:22-23
In verse 22, we’re told when Eli was very old he kept hearing shocking reports about his 2 sons Hophni and Pinchas.
Apparently, they were having sex with the women who were “doing service at the tent of meeting”.
Who were these women?
They were NOT Temple prostitutes who served during Canaanite worship services.
These were female Levite workers who performed the routine tasks required at the Tabernacle.
Because of their low ranking position I’m guessing it was easy for Pinchas and Hophni to abuse their authority and take advantage of them sexually.
Now let me make something clear.
Eli’s sons were NOT taking advantage of these women inside the Sanctuary…
I imagine God would have killed them on the spot if they had been doing that.
Instead, the women were probably taken to some smaller room nearby where the hanky panky took place.
Now don’t get me wrong…
The fact they weren’t performing the sex acts inside the sanctuary didn’t make what they were doing any less abominable.
They were committing unclean acts in close proximity to God’s holy dwelling place…
Which means the defilement that resulted was horrific.
We’re told a concerned Eli confronted his sons…
He asked them if the rumors he was hearing about them were true…
Because he hadn’t heard one good thing about their behavior.
Pinchas and Hophni paid no attention to their father.
Eli might as well have been speaking to a couple of deaf people.
His sons’ hearts had hardened beyond the point of no return…
Which means God had already determined their fates…
The window of opportunity to repent had long passed for these 2 scoundrels.
We see this situation occurring with other characters in the Bible as well.
Remember the Pharaoh of Egypt during the Exodus?
God also hardened his heart beyond the point of repentance.
This was done so the Lord’s wrath would reach its complete fulfillment allowing for Israel’s release from over 400 years of bondage.
What’s also interesting is a few verses later God brings up Israel’s hardship in Egypt as the context for his rebuke against Eli.
Plus, we shouldn’t overlook how this avenging attribute of the Lord is something well expressed in Hannah’s prayer…
How the Lord doesn’t play any favorites…
In a short time, we’re going to see God kill His own people…
Specifically Hophni and Pinchas…
And then He’s going to remove the High Priest Eli from his post…
In other words, God is going to lower those who deserve to be lowered.
And elevate those who deserve to be elevated…
Thus bringing balance to all situations.
Alrighty, there’s one key takeaway I’m getting from today’s devotional.
And it is this.
Understand there’s an invisible line that God draws in the sand so to speak…
And if you cross it, repentance is no longer possible…
In other words, in the beginning you may choose to harden your heart against the Lord…
In the beginning it’s your choice…
But if you continue to remain stubborn…
If you continue to harden your heart against the Lord…
The time will come when it will no longer be you who hardens your heart…
But God will take over and harden your heart against Him…
When that happens, you’re done for…
Because you no longer have the ability to repent…
Which means your eternal destruction is sealed…
As horrifying as that is to contemplate…
There are many examples in Scripture that show this is true.
So how do I know if I’ve crossed that invisible line?
That’s a good question…
And the truth is I can’t say for sure…
Only the Lord knows whose hearts He will harden resulting in their eternal destruction.
One thing I can say with confidence is this however:
If you’re concerned about whether or not you’ve crossed that line…
Then you probably haven’t.
Because a person whose heart has been hardened against God by God doesn’t care anymore…
He has completely written the Lord off…
He feels zero remorse for his sins…
Heck, he probably doesn’t even believe in God anymore…
And would laugh at your suggestion that God will judge him for his sins…
So if there’s still concern in your heart…
And a desire to know and obey your Creator…
I don’t think you’ve crossed that line.
Ya feel me?

The dialectic, depicted literally
Minor spoilers for the Placidusax fight.
Raya Lucaria's debate hall features a purple banner in the middle of its eastern wall.
https://preview.redd.it/chxrqv5911qa1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58c30436684b3abf7ce998fa3e2056ab3609e308
The first interpretation I heard for what the banner could mean was from greetthemoth, who suggested its purple coloring might signify the union of Rennala (blue) with Radagon (red). I later heard from Quelaag that the purple might be the result of a combination of the red and blue colors of the Cuckoo Knights. I believe she may have said something about the two cuckoos combining to form the Twinbird; in any case, I think this theory is likely. Further evidence for the cuckoo interpretation is the winged gargoyles on the left and right sides of the hall.
After thinking a bit more about this, I realized that the room the purple banner is found in, the debate hall, is probably important. A debate is an interchange between two sides, kind of like red and blue mixing to create purple. It's also a combative interaction, similar to how the moon and Erdtree are sometimes portrayed as opposing forces.
I developed a mental image of one side in the debate being represented by students wearing red, and the other side by students in blue. The product of the debate would be represented by violet, in between the opposing debate stands, and in the middle of the wall as the purple banner.
https://preview.redd.it/s7aubcda11qa1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=266145d58fd09a1ce3e1d60edf8c5246a8b3862c
Finally, I concluded the significance goes one level further: the debate hall and the purple banner are also a representation of the dialectic, since the original meaning of the word was "debate".
The dialectic is an idea in philosophy that two forces or ideas combat each other to create a "synthesis" (this is the word used in the most popular terminology), which is usually described as a position somewhere between the two, and is the result of progressing through the two previous phases. Again, the word originally just meant a debate (and still does in Greek philosophy), but it took on increasingly abstract meanings in German Idealist philosophy, for example in the theories of Hegel and Fichte. In the context of Elden Ring, the synthesis is purple, the Twinbird, the union of Radagon and Rennala, and so on. There are many other examples besides these.
Since there is a somewhat adversarial connotation to the word, I think the idea of dialectics has something to do with the Crucible. This is because a crucible is, in one definition, a tool used to melt metal and combine things together; in another definition, it means a test of some kind. This might be related to why the violet banner also contains gold. Also, testing makes perfect sense in the setting of a debate hall, or schoolhouse classroom.
Another example of dialectics in Japanese media is the spiral and anti-spiral conflict in the anime Gurren Lagann. I'm mentioning this because spirals are also a common symbol in Elden Ring, and may also represent the dialectic, in which case Gurren Lagann may have been an influence. The theorist Crunchy noticed that spirals are commonly used in Elden Ring to make reference to the Crucible. The same might also be true for dialectics; or if not, maybe the double-helix, if this is considered a different symbol than the spiral, is the symbol which is meant to depict the dialectic. There is in fact a glintstone spell that uses the double helix shape, called "shard spiral", which is used by some sorcerers in Raya Lucaria. Furthermore, the Twinbird is associated with double-helices through its similarities with the twin-headed Placidusax, who is found with his necks crossing each other, in the start of a double-helix pattern.
shard spiral
One other thing I should mention is that all of the glintstone in Raya Lucaria is of the purple, gravity variety (which partly explains the alabaster lord). The floor of the debate hall is littered with purple glintstone. If the purple variety was chosen for this location, and glintstone has a connection to the intellect that allows one to cast sorceries, this would further support the idea that a synthetic, holistic perspective is the kind of philosophy most becoming of a student.

2023.03.26 08:27 MapPresent6984 Bad habits (no fap ) and thought energy

I'M USING NOFAP AS AN EXAMPLE HERE YOU CAN USE THIS TECHNIQUE TO ELIMINATE ANY BAD HABIT.
I'm writing this for people that start nofap and failing back in couple days. if you are like this please read this fully. this will change your point of view.
I wanna make something clear here remember this " choice is all yours" you get what you choose. You just have to choose wisely. If you are failing on nofap consistently what you need is not motivation, its the good understand about what's going on with you and how things work around you.
what I'm going to tell might not make any sense to you. But this technique helped me to get better.
this is going to be a hella long article. Please read this if you wanna eliminate bad habits from your life. And my English is not good I'm really sorry if I made it hard for you to understand.
let me first explain what energy pendulum is. Pendulum is a structure that build on peoples thought energy. When a group of people got together for one single goal and when they think about their goal, their thought energy creates a pendulum. A very strong pendulum. The parameters of their thought energy are identical. independent energy-information structure is created which is referred to as an energy pendulum. Eventually this structure begins to live its own life and subjugate to its laws the very people who created it.
The structure is referred to as a pendulum because the more people–adherents–that feed it with their energy, the more powerfully it sways. Every pendulum has its own rhythm and frequency. As I mentioned when the number of adherents increase pendulum sways more powerfully. If it loses all its adherents the pendulum will stop moving completely. example of defunct pendulums are ancient pagan religions, old buildings, out dated fashion trends, etc...
Pendulums are very very destructive. It can Drain someone's energy. When number of adherents in pendulum increases it has very big amount of thought energy, and when this happens pendulum don't sway in the way that adherents wants it to sway. It create it's own frequency and beat. adherents have no idea that they lost their control. So They live by pendulums rules, and pendulum drains it's adherents energy. Primal example of pendulums are political parties and wars.
now you may wonder what this has to do with nofap and eliminating bad habits from your life. Let me explain, when you made the decision of quitting porn or any bad habit that you have with your life, you create a pendulum by radiating your thought energy to a some frequency. Yes one's thought energy can create a pendulum. So when you made the decision to eliminate bad habits you create a pendulum. When this happens your brain force you to think about it. You are always thinking about the habit you eliminated. When you think about it, you feed pendulum with your thought energy. It doesn't matter whether you think about it negatively or positively. Pendulum just need energy.
when you are feeding energy to pendulum by thinking about the habit you just eliminate ,pendulum sways more powerfully. So eventually you will relapse because now pendulum has more thought energy (power) and it's swaying for its own rhythm.
I hope this make sense. If you wanna get a better idea of pendulums read "REALITY TRANSURFING"BY Vadim Zealend.
let's get back to the case.
What I want you to do is the next time you trying to eliminate any bad habits from your life you just have to stop thinking about it.
Let me give you an example -
let's think like you started nofap. After like one hour your brain starts thinking about it like " i'm on nofap now , I'm doing it" or some thoughts like that. and when you get thoughts like that you are feeding pendulum with energy. it doesn't matter the thought is positive or negative. What you should do is when you got any thoughts about no fap I want you to stop acknowledging the thought. Treat it like just a wind passing by you. What you doing here is, you are not letting the pendulum to hook to you. You are treating it like nothing. Ignore it completely. Don't let it hook to you.
the best way to do this is as I mentioned before when you got thoughts about something that you already eliminated or you are trying to eliminate ignore that thought, stop acknowledging it. I guarantee you if you tried this you will get better results than watching 3 min motivation videos.
and I wanna make one more thing clear to you, there is a big difference between ignoring and avoiding. you avoid things that you have let into your personal space. Ignoring means you are not letting things to take place in your personal space.
I think I did made sense to you by writing this article, and I hope now you have a idea of what's going on with your thought energy.
If you have any questions, comment down below. And if you have any information comment them too, I'm always ready for knowledge.
If you understood about pendulums clearly, you may have noticed that this post is also a pendulum.

Good Luck.

2023.03.26 08:27 xonbieslayer Tips on how to be better?

Hello all,
I've got a few questions.

I'm wondering - as a cis (and possibly bisexual??) woman who doesn't currently have any lgbt friends and only a few lgbt family members - how I can be the most supportive and understanding. I'm highly invested in the community but have little experience with actual members of it because I'm very much a hermit - sociable and kind as I can be but highly introverted. I often overthink how I act and what to say when I'm around people of cultures and backgrounds different from mine.

Especially now with pride month coming up very soon, I really would like tips, opinions, or other ideas on how to best approach and talk to lgbt people. That being said, it goes without saying that I simply treat them like I would any other stranger. Many stores I frequent have lgbt employees and they've started to become familiar faces out during mall trips or the likes. Herein lies the issue: the other day, I was checking out with a cashier who was trans; I wanted to complement her on her hair but I stopped myself, wondering, "Would that come off as fake? Would she think I'm only trying to be nice because I realize she is transgender?" Furthermore, is it generally accepted as okay to ask a person their pronouns? I have once before and the question was very well received but I'm always too shy to do it.

With mental health issues being highly common in the lgbt community, I've considered doing little gestures to offer support. When I went to Pride a couple of years ago, someone just randomly handed me a little laminated card telling me how beautiful and amazing and important I am, and that I deserve to exist in this world. It then said to pass it on to someone else who might need to see this message. This gesture was very important to me and I'll never forget it. I carried it for some time until I left it on a seat in the place of much of my healing, The OCD and Anxiety Treatment Center in Utah.I've considered creating and giving cards to people that say things like "you're loved" or "you're beautiful", but again, the question arises: "Would they think I'm forcing this?" I understand that this could be seen as an odd practice and I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. It's one thing to hand people cards of support out in the Pride crowd, but maybe it's another to give someone a card at Wal-Mart.

Also, a side question completely unrelated: what animals or symbols are most associated with the community? I've got unicorns and rainbows but that's it, and a project of mine needs more variety.

Thanks all. :)

2023.03.26 08:20 memoriasepeliar My OS might be corrupted. Gaming Services not found. Need advice how to proceed

The gist of my question is that I have been encouraged to outsource for advice on what course of action to take. I've spoken with Bethesda agents and also a family friend who does tech repair for a living, and it's highly likely my OS is corrupted.
What is the best way to go about repairing Windows 10?
I grew up with familiarity repairing and working with Windows OS between 3.1 and XP, but I have next to zero familiarity with any OS after DOS was phased out. It's also pretty foreign to me to imagine being able to do a boot sequence from a USB rather than a disc, but here we are.
I have backed up all my media, and I have prepared a thumb drive as a boot media using the Windows MCT app. (And I'll extract my registration key from the current install prior to taking any further steps. I just haven't yet.) I just am not sure how to proceed from here, since there's so many different options for repairing Windows 10. (The only repair "reinstallation" I've already tried is running DISM with a current ISO copy of Windows 10's setup files.)
I've included my specs at the end of the post, if they're relevant. I can also figure out how to provide MSInfo and DXDiag TXTs if you need them.
I appreciate any input, insight, and advice you may be able to provide.

So, the long of it.
I was gifted a Microsoft copy of Fallout 76 back in November, and for the first month everything ran fine. Then the first week of December or so, I started having a highly reproducible bug that essentially locks me out of an entire feature. I tried game-specific suggestions from the F76 community to try to fix it, such as deleting my pref INIs to force the game to create new ones with the default parameters, and in-game stuff that didn't alter files. When none of that worked, I finally reached out early this month to Bethesda's support to see if they could walk me through anything that could fix my issue. I am not an isolated case for this bug, so I figured I could at least get somewhere. The tech agents were very patient and exhaustive trying to diagnose a source for the issue. Despite about two weeks of back and forth, we didn't determine any solutions, and they passed my ticket on to development to see if they could patch a solution into a future game update. We started out in a combination about like so:
This is when trying to fix the in-game problem started to impact the stability of my system. Because the Microsoft copy of F76 is UWP, it's in the WindowsApps folder. The agent (and just about every suggested solution I've encountered online) advised me to change the Advanced Security settings for WindowsApps and the F76 folder within it, and change the principal to my user. In order to add UWPs to any list of inclusions or exclusions, the program that's making that list must have authorization, right? Despite trying multiple user permissions settings including "Everyone," I could not add F76's Gamepass EXE to my firewall or even to the games lists in my GEFX or Steam library. I could list a folder where applicable, but the system would refuse to let me select the EXE itself. It's unusual to me, that even though I told GEFX the folder that contains the 76 Gamepass EXE, it could no longer find it, when it definitely could find it in the first month I had the game.
At first, it did not seem like the permissions edit was taking by doing it via the Advanced Security tab, so I used a PowerShell command to try to take control of it that way. (SPOILER for those reading this post and do not know: WindowsApps is user-protected in a very specific way, and altering it even just to view the folder contents can create unpredictable behavior. If you don't know *exactly* what you're doing, it's probably ill advised to edit the WindowsApps permissions in any way. Only learning this myself after the fact, trying to research "what's wrong" with my Gamepass EXE.) I'm pretty confident the command didn't resolve completely, just based on system behaviors after that actions.
I didn't figure it was a good thing to keep the altered permissions settings for WindowsApps, anyway, if it didn't resolve the bug I altered them for. However, I needed to use a Restore Point to reverse them to the system standard, because trying to set it back to Admins myself did something that seems to have damaged several unrelated applications, like Discord, which *isn't* UWP and is in my Program Files folder. I had to reinstall several things, including F76. (In hindsight, I think the PowerShell command I used altered the entire system's user permissions. It's been a few weeks since I did it, so I'm not entirely confident which command I used. I am rusty with DOS but only have vague command of PowerShell, so it was definitely a bad idea on my part to have tried this.)
When I reported to the Beth agent, they combed over DXDiag and MSInfo files, and told me that the only thing that looked out of ordinary was an event causing ntdll.dll to crash. I was told to do two things in CMD.
Neither scan indicated file corruption or damage. However, the next time I played the game, it ran very smoothly, and I could use the game feature that was experiencing the bug. The game only let me access that feature three times before the bug returned. At this point, I started exhaustively repeating the process the Bethesda agents had walked me through. Repeatedly clean installing the NVIDIA drivers, verifying game through XBox, doing SFC & DISM, ensuring I was running XBox app and F76 elevated/admin, etc. This routine wasn't 100% consistent resolving the bug and giving me access to the specific in-game feature, but I'd say about 70% of the time just doing the routine a single time would make it so I could use that feature the next time I loaded the game.
At one point two days ago, I got several hours of smooth gameplay before the bug appeared. I exited the game to repeat the debug routine I described above, but then I got a series of new errors, beginning with the XBox app telling me F76 wasn't installed. I could locate the F76 installation folder on my laptop myself and the MS Store said it was installed, but the XBox app didn't think it was. I located two different places that the system had installed it--both nested within folders called WindowsApps even though one was not in the default location--so I thought perhaps my issue had been that my inclusions/exclusions were pointing to the wrong copy. I tried changing that in Defender and GEFX, but the other copy of F76 Gamepass wouldn't let me add it to lists either. After doing that, the MS Store no longer reflected that the game was installed on my system, and the next time I looked for the two places where the game had been installed, I could not locate either. The amount of free space on the two partitions of my hard drive has not changed to reflect a 100GB game being uninstalled/deleted, and I've checked my Recycling Bin for it.
I have looked into public solutions for Gaming Services related errors and tried these:
Because the XBox app didn't think F76 was installed, it would prompt me to install it in order to play it. It could not locate Gaming Services. No matter how many times I tell it to download Gaming Services from the Microsoft Store, the XBox app cannot locate it, and both the Microsoft Store and XBox app rely on Gaming Services to install games, so I cannot currently reinstall F76.
Then the system could no longer find the NVIDIA or Intel Control Panels, something about "parameters being incorrect." Repairing them with Add/Remove Programs and reinstalling them did not make it so my system could locate them. I have also tried a repair via Add/Remove Programs and a reinstall for Gaming Services, XBox app, GEFX, and MS Store. I would've tried a repair via Add/Remove Programs for F76 but the game is no longer in the apps list.
The biggest problem I am currently seeing going forward is that my system has been deleting my Restore Points. I do not have one prior to the game mysteriously uninstalling itself and these error messages manifesting.
Aside from the System Restore Point issue, the only things I'm really seeing affected at this point are that I can no longer run Fallout 76, Gaming Services appears to be missing, and upon restarting my system, I get two error pop-ups telling me those two Control Panels are missing. My art programs run. Firefox runs. Discord and anything else I've had to reinstall all run fine. SFC and DISM scans have never reported corrupt files, not even now, and the ISO I've been using for DISM is directly from the Windows MCT app as of this week.
(In hindsight, as I read over my post, I feel like the big problems might be chalked up to what amounts to repeatedly reinstalling system files, and something getting minced along the way. Regardless of whether that's the case, it definitely looks like a clean copy of Windows is in order.)
Again, I appreciate any advice going forward. Thank you for your time.

2023.03.26 08:20 LRonPaul2012 If taxes are theft, then libertarians need to boycott the use of US currency

When most people apply to the "taxes are theft" argument, there's two main approaches:
  1. Appeal to their humanity: Doesn't work on sociopaths
  2. Appeal to pragmatism: Doesn't work on idiots
But there's a better response: If libertarians claim they don't need government services, then call them on their bluff, and point out that money itself is a government service. If you bring up something like roads, libertarians will insist that the market will provide a cheapebetter alternative once taxes go away. But when it comes to money, the free market alternatives already exist, but libertarians refuse to use them because the alternatives are useless without government backing.
This isn't exactly a new argument: There's the famous "Render unto Caesar" line from Jesus himself in the bible.

1. You cannot have fiat currency without taxes and spending

In David Graeber's book "Debt: The First 5000 Years," Graeber explores the history of money citing actual research rather than the historical fanfiction.
Money is circulated throughout the economy by government spending. If there was no government spending, then there would be no money to go around. Money has value because of the demand created by taxation. In the absence of taxes, then the dollar would effectively be worthless.
Hence, if libertarians are really against the idea of taxes and spending, then they should be demanding zero dollars in their bank account, rather than asking for more of them. Their entire goal is to increase their supply of dollars by cutting off the supply, which doesn't make any fucking sense.

2. Free market currencies exist, but they've been rejected by the free market

Libertarians will respond to the previous point by insisting that free market alternatives like gold and bitcoin are not only viable, but superior. But every argument in favor of these alternatives treats them as investment vehicles for the sake of generating more fiat, rather than a currency in itself. This isn't simply my opinion, it's the outcome of the free market itself.
Here's the fundamental problem: Money is supposed to be a medium of exchange, which means it must be agreeable to both parties: Something people are willing to gain, and something people are willing to lose. Except those are two opposing goals, so how can it be both? Libertarians champion gold and bitcoin because the scarcity will encourage hoarding and discourage spending. They never seem to understand that you can't have a transaction without spenders. They assume that their employers will pay them in gold coins, rather than keeping them for themselves.
Fiat currency solves this by using inflation to encourage spending, and taxes to encourage demand, which is why it's been embraced by the free market.

3. Fiat currency is so appealing that even foreign nations are willing to adopt it

Libertarians will claim that the only reason people use US dollars is because they're forced to by law against their will. But if that were the case, then why do foreign countries use them as well, when they obviously don't have to? Again, it's because the dollar represents a government service that these countries are voluntarily opting into. And no, bitcoin in El Salvador doesn't count, because bitcoin in El Salvador is valued based on the amount of fiat dollars you can trade the bitcoin for.

4. The US financial system as a government service

In addition to opting-in to government currencies, libertarians also opt-in to the following:
For instance, libertarians will whine that they still have to pay taxes even if they leave the country, but that's enforceable if they want access to US banks, which no one is forcing them to do. When you apply for a bank account, you promise you're following US tax laws, and you agree to let your bank report suspicious activity to the IRS. If you don't agree to those terms, then take your money somewhere else. But libertarians aren't willing to do that, because they want to opt-in to the service and security of the US banking system, but without the responsibility of paying for it.
Likewise, you opt-in to paying property taxes because it's part of the property contract. You can try to sign a property contract that doesn't include this, but in this case, the state has no obligation to recognize it as valid. Asking the state to recognize the contract as valid is a service that you opt into voluntarily. Otherwise, what's stopping someone else from producing their own contract claiming ownership over the same piece of land?

5. People only go to jail when they commit fraud, which only happens when you voluntarily opt-in

Libertarians frequently claim that taxes are coercion because they'll go to jail if they don't pay taxes they never agreed to for services they never asked for. But they always rely on false analogies where they say the mafia did something illegal and then claim that the IRS is doing the same thing, but lacking in any real world examples.
Here's the problem: Tax evasion is only a felony if there's proof of fraud, and we live in a country where people are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Proof of guilt only happens if there's a paper trail, and the paper trail only happens if the person voluntarily entered an arrangement with intention to deceive.
For instance, most employers will ask you to sign a form where you consent to taxes. The employer voluntarily enters the agreement because it means they can report your wages as a deduction, and the employee voluntarily enters the agreement because it gives them access to better jobs.
What if you disagree with the terms and refuse to pay taxes? Then you're free to walk away. What if you agree to report your income but then forget? You'll be sent a reminder and be given the chance to issue a correction. The only way for you to go to jail is if you knowingly lie and even when given the chance to come clean.
By contrast, there's millions of undocumented workers in America who don't pay taxes. But since their employer isn't writing off their wages as a deduction, there's no paper trail for a tax evasion case. They might get in trouble with immigration, but they generally do not worry about the IRS.
Libertarians will reply with "It's still illegal even if I don't get caught!" But this is a completely different goalpost. The original claim was the threat of jailtime, and jailtime doesn't happen without a paper trail that you opted into voluntarily. If there's no jail time, then there's no coercion.

6. Money spent is no longer yours to control

Lots of libertarians think they can invalidate taxes because they disagree with how some of that money is spent. This is a nonsense argument that would never be used in any other context.
For instance, if I spend $3000 on rent, then I can hope that my landlord spends all of that money on things I personally support, but he legally doesn't have to and he probably won't. The contract says I'm paying money for shelter, and as long as he provides that, then it's still a valid transaction.
If you pay property taxes so the state recognizes you as the registered owner, then that's the service you voluntarily opted into paying for. It doesn't matter if the money is later spent on different services you disagree with. Once money changes hand, it's no longer yours.

7. Why opting out is unprofitable

If you sell goods on eBay, then you agree to pay various fees for things like shipping, insurance, commission, payment processing, and sales tax. Libertarians will claim that the last one is rape and slavery because you cannot proceed if you refuse to pay but all of the other examples are voluntary because you can refuse to pay by not proceeding.
But what happens if someone tries to opt out of all government services and taxes by hosting an eBay clone overseas? Legally, if you're outside of US jurisdiction, then the US can't do anything to stop you. So why don't more companies actually do this? The simple answer is: Because they would end up losing a lot more money.
If customers know the company is outside of US jurisdiction, then they know they won't be able to hold the company accountable if someone screws them over. Likewise, legitimate payment processors won't want to do business with them, because they don't want to deal with customer complaints, or have their reputation damaged by illegal markets. You'd have trouble finding reliable developers, because reliable developers would want to work for a company that actually obeys the law. etc.

8. "Charging taxes implies ownership!"

This is a non-sensical argument that libertarians make that goes like this:
  1. Charging property taxes is only valid if government owns your land
  2. Government does not own your land.
  3. Therefore, taxes are invalid.
Once again, this is a silly argument that would never be applied to the free market. For instance, you cannot invalidate parking fees simply because the manager of the parking lot doesn't own your car. You cannot invalidate eBay commission fees simply because eBay doesn't own the goods you sell on eBay. etc.

2023.03.26 08:16 WanchoSocialLiberal Top best Mario Party

Hello people, I hope you are well, this is going to be my first video game Reddit post which is impressive (considering that I'm always on the political subreddit haha) and it occurred to me to think about Mario Party, after having played it a lot and thought a lot.
It is one of my favorite Mario sagas and video games in general, always revolutionizing the term as franchises such as Mario Kart do, but unfortunately it declined a lot throughout its games and was highly overexploited.
RULES:
I will not include the following games:
- Mario Party-e (Game Boy Advance e-Reader peripheral, 2003)

Processing img g4wmbsvg4dpa1...
- Mario Party Island Tour (Nintendo 3DS, 2013)

Processing img lvi9hcow3dpa1...
- Mario Party Star Rush (Nintendo 3DS, 2016)

Processing img jy4iwyb04dpa1...
- Mario Party The Top 100 (Nintendo 3DS, 2017)

Processing img fi6rpl844dpa1...
- Mario Party Superstars (Nintendo Switch, 2021)

Processing img aak96rjy4dpa1...
The reasons are because they are games that I didn't play, The Top 100 and Superstars are more a remake or even remaster, and one is more of a board game with just a few minigames with a peripheral that I doubt very much that those who had a GBA would have had it.
The very rare and exclusive Japan-exclusive Mario Party arcade games made by Capcom and Banpresto will also not be included and no unofficial games will be included.
I will put positive and negative points and with a note at the end based on my personal opinion and I will use some other criticisms that I will leave in the description if you want to find out more
And in case I need to say it, from the worst to the best
Now that it's all said, let's get started and enjoy:
First I will start with the bad, horrible or what would only be mediocre.
13 - Mario Party Advance
Of all the Mario Party, this is possibly considered one of the most disappointing, boring and bad
Processing img zsgbpur75dpa1...
Bad points:
1- The game changed completely, going from being a party game to grab coins and have the most stars with mini-games. To a bad and generic single player RPG game replaced with minigames to solve missions
2 - The main mode and the important thing of the game, Shroom City and next to the missions, makes the game very repetitive
3 - The multiplayer game is quite poor, something curious considering that it is a game OF THE PARTY GENRE
Speaking of the previous point, although it has fifty (50) mini-games, forty-two (42) of them ARE ONE-PLAYED, which means that there are only eight (8) multiplayer mini-games.
4 - Some missions consist of trial and error like the search for Klepto and the search for Dolphin.
5 - There are also repetitive and easy missions such as characters like Goomba, Mole Monty or a penguin who needs help with GAMBLING ADDICTION (WTF?, on top of that the game has an E rating)
Ironically those minigames tend to be very easy.
6 - The music and sound are recycled soundtracks from Mario Party 3 and 4 but with low quality, and their soundtracks are among the worst in the franchise
7 - There's no minigame practice and no image or video of minigame gameplay during the instruction screens (the latter is something that's been used since the first Mario Party game), which means new minigames will be harder to figure out understand for an average player, and by the time the player understands the basics of the minigame, it is likely that they have already failed the minigame at least once. Technically, you could use practice as a power-up in Mini-Game Attack, but you can't practice a minigame otherwise.
8 - Some minigames are very difficult to complete in Shroom City due to lack of time or very high objective scores, for example Sled Slide and Sort Stack. In most cases, there is little to no room for error, and usually making a mistake once in a minigame is all it takes to lose the entire minigame.
9 - After getting all the Gadgets and minigames in Shroom City, there is little replay factor. For the most part, you have to complete the Challenge Land modes to try and earn enough coins to get the remaining items in the shop, which includes a Power Star device that costs 100,000 coins (good luck trying to win fifteen mini-games in Mini-Game Attacks or all eight dueling minigames in Duel Attack to get the required 100000 coins, because minigames only get much harder over time and messing it up once will force you to start over).
10 - If you manage to complete most if not all of the mini-games successfully and complete all tasks quickly, it will only take you a few hours (6-18) to complete Shroom City, and it's also easy to complete Shroom City in a single run (minus some quests that are character specific, like a quest from Mr. I that requires playing as Peach and one from Dorrie that requires playing as Yoshi).
11 - No voice acting at all. Even the announcer at the beginning of the minigames that says "Start" or "Finish" has been replaced with a Lakitu. While it would be excusable if it was one of the first Game Boy Advance games, this game was one of the last GBA games to be released and previous Mario games such as Super Mario Advance and Mario Golf Advance had voice acting. Even the previous "portable" Mario Party game, Mario Party-e had voice acting.
12 - Only four playable characters, being Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi. Even in Mario Party 1 and 2 you can choose up to 6 different characters.
Good points
1 - It was the first Mario Party game on a laptop, so thanks for the try
2 - The graphics are pretty decent (or even good) for a late GBA game
3 - The music, although it is recycled, can be a memory for Mario Party 3 players mainly.
4 - Some other minigames are entertaining, like the two-player minigame that parodies curling or some platform.
5 - Some of the Gadgets are quite nice to play, and there are actually more Gadgets (61) than there are minigames. Some Gaddgets are also multiplayer on a single console, which means that it is possible to play all Gaddgets properly without the need for another Game Boy Advance.
6 - The game also comes (in its box) with a paper bonus board, which can be played by cutting out the parts from the game manual and using the game to roll the dice and play the gadgets and mini-games.
Final Calification: 4.52/10
12 - Mario Party 9

Processing img d7riocyqhdpa1...
Possibly one of the most controversial and controversial games in the series (although hey...not as much as The Last Of Us Part II either) Due to its large number of changes
Bad Points:
1- First and foremost, this game introduced the car mechanic, which was a very bad idea to begin with and made many fans of the series upset. This was primarily due to previous Mario Party games receiving weaker reviews from critics for the repetitive concept, so Nd Cube attempted to rework the series in hope of gaining better reception from critics without any consent or care to fans.
The joke of Mario Party was a board game, with large and creative maps in which a lot of things could happen to you, even if you were lucky or last (Or roll ten (10)) The board can handle you so that I didn't win, basically it was UNPREDICTABLE, but in this game they changed the freedom of being able to move to a horrible car and with smaller maps to compensate for it.
In fact, the game pretty much removes the luck factor from the previous games, to the point where only winning the minigames (with the exception of one or the other lucky minigames)
2 - Items are the worst in the franchise, they changed items like orbs or even candy from the previous game and replaced them with DICE, literally one of the "Best Items in the Game" It's just a 10 sided die, something that SINCE THE FIRST, MARIO PARTY AND ANY OTHER BOTH DESKTOP AND PORTABLE WAS SOMETHING YOU ALWAYS HAD.
3 - The music isn't bad, but it's not as memorable as the Gamecube, and it's not even on the heels of the Nintendo 64.
4 - Bob-omb Factory and Magma Mine are infamous for having crippling methods of losing many Mini-Stars. In Bob-omb Factory, you get a Bob-omb on your car that explodes after moving ten spaces. In Magma Mine, lava will eventually rise and rolling too low can result in getting caught in it. Both the Bob-omb and the lava make you lose half of your Mini-Stars, and it is extremely crippling to the point where having a Bob-omb explode on you or being burnt by the lava is instant loss of the game.
5 - The 2-vs.-2, battle and duel mini-games are gone.
Speaking of battle mini-games, there's a battle space and you can still battle for Mini-Stars, but you just play the same old free-for-all mini-games instead of unique 4-player mini-games.
6 - The battles with Whomp and King Bob-omb in the Bob-omb Factory are annoying since they are mostly luck based.
7 - The story mode is literally three (3) player games (although at least it's better than Mario Party 8)
Good Points:
1 - The graphics increased the quality better, unlike those of 8 that were recycled from 4 (or 5 and 6) But with better shading quality, mainly for being the last official Mario game for the Wii
2 -Bowser Jr's minigames are quite good in themselves and can remind you of the minigames of the Mario Party 2 item minigames in which Koopa Kid appeared
3 - It has 7 boards, which, although they are linear, can have their fun moments.
4 - The cars themselves are pretty well designed for the dashboards (at least)
5 -It is the first game in the series where everyone earns coins depending on their position without counting the coin minigames and the 4 player team minigames from Mario Party 1 where you could also lose coins, which is a good thing that later installments would use.
5 - AT LEAST he tried to renew himself and be different, although he did quite badly.
Final Calification: 4,89/10
Now I'll start with the mediocre to average
11 - Mario Party 8

Processing img na12yw87tepa1...
Bad Points
1 - The story is rather bland and simple, being a candy contest
2 - Although this point will be ambiguous, on the one hand it is very good that they take advantage of the control mechanics for the minigames, exploiting their capabilities like WarioWare, it also makes a large part of the minigames boring because they will be somewhat repetitive.
3 - The boards without counting Koopa's hotel board (the most original board in the game) and Bowser's final board (with its unique elements such as Bowser Candy reminiscent of the Bowser Mushroom from Mario Party 2, 3 and 4) are very linear. or designed for the CPU to literally bowl you more.
4 - The graphics feel recycled from Mario Party 4 with better shading.
5 - The game has fewer minigames compared to previous installments, having only 73, Mario Party 5 had seventy-five (75) minigames and Parties 6 to 7 had more than eighty (80) minigames.
Add to that that of the 75 mini-games, 27 ARE DUELING
6 - Test for the Best, can be VERY FRUSTATING if you want to pass all the minigames perfectly, as a curious fact time will change if it is the PAL version of the game so as not to make it so complicated
Good Points:
1 - The carnival theme of this game works very well with a series like Mario Party.
2 - The Candy mechanic is fun to use, some can transform you into things like a ball and a vampire
3 - 14 playable characters. You can play as a Blooper and a Hammer Bro Now and you can even play as your Mii in certain Minigames.
4 - The extras in this game are very well done, the minigames and you can even buy taunts while waving the remote.
5 - There are some fun extra minigames such as Moped Mayhem and Canyon Crusaders.
The game even had a somewhat mixed reception, giving it a 5.2/10 on IGN and a 6.5/10 on Gamespot which are very low ratings for a Mario game, New Super Mario Bros 2 was rated better and that's what a lot of people thought complain that it was too easy
Final Calification: 5.65/10
10 - Mario Party 10

Processing img azuoovhtyepa1...
Bad Points:
1 - Compared to the previous game, it feels like a more watered down version of Mario Party 9, but stripping it of all the stuff that made it at least somewhat salvageable, as almost every feature in 9 became more sterile. thanks to the devs who made the game easier and less fun than before and the reason 9 was bad was because it was easier for newer players and changed certain things about the formula which while not bad innovate but it did it in a bad way, which was less in this one since it is much more simplified and repetitive than 9, which considering that this was going to be the second NDCube title for home console should have given the small studio time to improve the Mario Party 9 stuff, but sadly they didn't.
2 - Speaking of which, It has the same flaws as Mario Party 9, such as the not well executed car mechanic, generic boards, and the music sometimes being forgettable.
3 - To play traditional Mario Party (in the form of Amiibo Mode), you need Amiibos. (At least is only a mod, and isn´t the garabe of Animal Crosiing: Amibo Festivial)
4 - The Amiibo mode itself is just a bare bones version of the traditional Mario Party, and the board itself is just a square.
5 - There isn't a Story Mode nor any Rival or Adventure that serves as the main campaign for the game unlike in the Hudson Soft games (expect 1 and 2) and Mario Party 9, as your only limited to either the Mario Party, Bowser Party or the Amiibo Party modes instead which don't have a lot of content in them and can feel a bit stale at times.
6 - While Bowser Party isn't a bad mode, Bowser is extremely overpowered:
Bowser can use multiple dice blocks, which makes easy to get to Team Mario. However, even if a player is eliminated (meaning that the maximum Team Mario can go with the dice blocks is 18), he always has 4 (meaning that the maximum is 24).
Some of the Bowser Party minigames takes away more hearts than they should, especially Bowser's Clawful Climb.
As if Bowser wasn't already overpowered, if he rolls low enough, he gets to roll again, which is unfair, as there aren't any spaces for Team Mario to reroll.
Only 3 of the 5 boards are playable in Bowser Party, which is rather questionable since the other 2 boards available could've at least fit well with Bowser Party since all they needed to do was tweak them a bit and that's it, which they sadly didn't do unfortunately, making the Bowser Party mode a wasted opportunity in general.
7 - The game doesn't support Pro Controller. Without the GamePad, you're forced to use a Wii Remote instead.
8 - The game does not have an online mode, which is already UNACCEPTABLE considering that it is an Eighth generation game from 2015, and he was able to take advantage of the fact that at that time Nintendo still did not charge for online
Good Points
1 - Amazing and beautiful graphics.
2 - Improved character roster, which pleased many fans of the series. Rosalina and Spike make their Mario Party debuts as playable characters, Donkey Kong makes his return since Mario Party 4, while Toadette makes her return since Mario Party 8.
3 - The mini-games are fun and most of them are already unlocked at the start.
4 - Bowser Party is an interesting mode and fun mode, even if it could've been better (if it was more balanced).
5 - It brought back 2 vs 2 minigames.
6 - The amiibo party mode is an interesting idea and was an attempt at bringing back the traditional Mario Party gameplay, and there's a minigame at the end of each round.

9 - Super Mario Party

Bad Points:
1 - Although this Mario Party made many improvements compared to its somewhat badly received predecessors. He also made several setbacks
2 - Character dice still go from 1 to 6, and for the worse now they each have their OWN STATS, which can make it very unfair.
3 - The allies in the game aren't bad, but they don't offer as much material as they did in Mario Party 3's duel mode, they just give you some extra dice that can help you beyond that from time to time.
4 - There are only 4 BOARDS, while in the previous games there were at least 6
Speaking of which, a lot of his boards are very short and easy without a lot of events to make it unique.
5 - Some items like the classic dueling glove or the double star card only appear in certain scenarios.
6 - Although they added online mode, it is only something unacceptable for minigames knowing that it was already an obligation to put it in party mode.
Good Points:
1 - The game has very good graphics and very shiny character designs
2 - The minigames are very well done, and it is one of the few games on the Switch to use and exploit the control functions well.
3 - A huge number of characters, having a total of 20, with 16 starters and 4 to unlock and even some of the previous Mario Party returns
4 - The elements although they are not that good, they return to their classic mode instead of simple dice and some are very useful to use
5 - This Mario Party is the first since Mario Party DS to go back to the classic formula with new stuff, so at least an attempt was made to do so.
6 - In an update, they FINALLY added the party mode online
Speaking of this last point, the coins also make a comeback and even with the addition of Mario Party 9 in which depending on your position you will get more or less coins instead of always only 10
Final calification: 6.15/10
Now let's go for the good games
8 - Mario Party DS

https://preview.redd.it/g8s7lxx8ztpa1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e8eb8180cfecc0437fc096dddf3e373ecfdcfaf
Good Points:
1 - Pretty decent graphics for a DS game
2 - Very good minigames, which make good use of the capabilities of the consoles
Speaking of which, a good number of minigames surpassing Mario Party 8 by one (74 minigames)
3 - Good story and the context in how the minimizer shrinks all the characters
4 - The Toadette board and the Bowser Pinball are very good
5 - You can play multiplayer without cable and only with a copy of the game like in New Super Mario Bros, something that few DS games have
6 - The boss battles are entertaining, mainly against Kamek and the final boss.
7 - The game has a better single player experience unlike the bad Mario Party Advance game.
8 - Many of the older puzzle minigames such as Bob-Omb Breakers (from Mario Party 4) and Piece Out (from Mario Party 5) return in this game, which can be a throwback to fans of Mario Party 3 through 7.
9 - Lots of replay value, especially collected items
10 - It is probably (at least from the ones I played and from my point of view) the best portable Mario Party
11 - Good way to say goodbye to the saga being the last game released by Hudson Soft before it dissolved and merged with Konami.
Bad Points:
1 - The story mode is somewhat short and easy, mainly because there are only 10 turns, when in the past it was at least 20 for the best duration
2 - The first battle against Petey Piranha is known to be the most difficult (in my childhood, I had a hard time beating him) And the others like the Hammer Bro and Dry Bones are extremely easy, except the one with Bowser
3 -Items and items are pretty bad in this game
Hexes (known as hexes) are just a cheap replacement for the Mario Party 6 and 7 orbs, which while it's nice that they're free to use, aren't as much fun as the old ones.
The main problem is the items, which although they have returned to the form of an element since Mario Party 4, have several problems
First of all there are useless items like Warp Dice Block that just teleports you to a random place
There are also super advantageous items like the star pipe (which is a replacement for the magic lamp from Mario Party 2, 3 and 4 or the flutteWigger orb from Mario Party 5, 6 and 7) which is a very cool item though , the problem is that it is too cheap costing only 15 coins, while the items in other games cost between 20 to 30 coins.
Worst of all is that you can now buy ALL THE ITEMS UP TO THREE SPACES IN YOUR INVENTORY BY PASSING ONLY ONCE IN THE STORE, although this sounds good in practice it is very unfair because you can have more than 45 coins and if you are lucky and the item is in the store (normally, at the last five rounds) You can buy three star pipes winning the game more easily.
Mario Party DS received mixed to positive reviews. It currently has a 7.3 on IGN, who called it "a huge leap over the last portable rendition."
Final Calification: 6.59/10
7 - Mario Party 6

https://preview.redd.it/8g882scqhxpa1.png?width=256&format=png&auto=webp&s=54bdf049c3643a39db4b015889ee5e263a03280e
Good Points:
1 - The graphics are decent, although they use the same designs as Mario Party 4 and 5
2 - They added day and night that changed every three turns on all boards, like the horror land board from Mario Party 2
3 - There are a fair number of mini-games and a great selection
4 - You can make purchases with stars of many things
5 - Mario Party 5 orb slots improved them, even if you fall into your own trap, it no longer affects you and gives you five coins
6 - The boards are very large and entertaining
7 - Finally you can buy your own orbs, unlike the previous game where they were given to you for free, but it was totally random.
8 - It has several quite good game modes including the extras.
Bad Points:
1 - They added something new that ended up being crap, which is the microphone, an accessory that connects to Slot B of the Gamecube Memory Card
The problem that it is very imprecise and you have to know and speak English perfectly and it is very difficult to use it
Luckily it's not required to play, you can disable the microphone minigames or just play with the L and R button actions
Besides that the microphone accessory was made only for SIX GAMES: Mario Party 6, Mario Party 7, Karaoke Revolution Party, Odama, Chibi-Robo!, and Densetsu no Quiz Ou Ketteisen. (and of those three are exclusive to Japan)
2 - The Soundtracks are hardly memorable compared to the fifth game and back.
3 - The Endurance Alley mode is a TOTALLY BROKEN mode, you have to play 100 random minigames without losing, the problem is not that the difficulty increases, but that there are minigames that are literally based on luck like Pitifall that can go out there and if you lose you go back to start from the beginning
Also it is not mandatory or necessary to unlock anything and you earn almost nothing worthwhile, just 10 STARS, although fortunately they corrected this in the PAL version a bit
Curiosities: Trap Ease Artist, Same Is Lame, Pitifall, and Trick or Tree are not available in the Endurance Alley in the PAL version of the game, the reason likely being that they are all luck-based.
Final calification: 6.72/10
6 - Mario party 7

https://preview.redd.it/7sahieh8vxpa1.png?width=256&format=png&auto=webp&s=830cc0bc99acab54063f511c2b0cfe57b709d398
Good Points:
1 - Graphics improved quality in part at least
2 - The character-specific color coding was eventually removed.
3 - The game is the first to offer six bonus stars, all of which are random instead of three as in previous games making it much more competitive.
4 - The boards are gigantic, based on different places in real life such as China and Japan
5 - It is one of the Mario Party with the largest number of minigames without counting the recycles or remakes like the top 100 or the Superstars, having 88 minigames.
Speaking of which, it's the classic Mario Party with fewer mini-games of pressing a single button very quickly.
6 - Toadsworth's microphone minigames are like Mario Party 3 Game Guy, but better because your bet is optional
7 - Pretty good story mode of traveling to different parts of the world on a cruise (who knows you Oddysey)
8 - There is a store to buy many of the things in the game that is literally called "Duty Free Shop" Apparently in an anarcho-capitalist paradise
Bad Points:
1 - Koopa Kid is no longer a playable character and this is his last major appearance.
2 - The character orbs, while useful in their own ways, are imbalanced. The Triple Shroom and Magic orbs are extremely good and can be used at anytime, while others like the Fireball or Egg orbs are situational and can only be good when the opportunity presents itself.
3 - Speaking of which, although it has a very good amount of mini-games, unfortunately there are very few 4-player ones with only thirteen is these.
Final Calification: 6.89/10
5 - Mario Party 4

https://preview.redd.it/9gj5xn0d40qa1.png?width=320&format=png&auto=webp&s=5600e3809fcfc4707022f9db2272cb9d8d17e6f7
Good Points:
1 - The graphics are spectacular, and the character models are very well done for being from 2002, so much so that the character designs remained almost unchanged until Mario Party 8 on the Wii.
2 - The minigames are very well done and it is possibly the Mario Party with the most entertaining and fair minigames
3 - It is one of the last Mario Parties to have memorable soundtracks, they are not as good as the first ones but they are quite good
4 - The gift mode lengthens and makes the duration of the game replayable
5 - It is the first Mario Party that can be played as a team in party mode.
6 - It is the last game in the series (until Mario Party 10) in which Donkey Kong is playable.
It is also the last game where the magic lamp and the Bowser mushroom appear (although the latter is almost impossible to see in action).
7 - It has good game modes and extra minigames like Beach Volleyball, where you can play with all the characters in the game, including the non-playable ones that are the hosts like Toad, Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Boo, and even Koopa Kid and Bowser (only exception is Goomba because is the referre)
8 - Some memorable boards like the one with the casino-themed Goomba
9 - The dialogue can be humorous at times, an example is when the rules of Darts of Doom is being explained, a Koopa Kid says "The player with the least points..." and then the fan holding Koopa Kid says "Gets a back rub!"
10 - It is the first, last and so far only Mario Party to use a CGI scene in the intro and also to be the first to have the 3D boards, although the direction of the map is flat until Mario Party 5
Bad Points:
1 - There aren't many minigames even though they are super cool, there are only 60, while Mario Party 2 had 65 minigames (although some of those were enhanced editions of the first game) and Mario Party 3 had 71 minigames.
Other than that there is no/they removed the duel category in the minigames, the closest thing is the minigames against the hosts but they can only be played in story mode and when you win a board
2 - Speaking of the previous point, the minigame against Boo IS SUPER UNFAIR and very lucky to win it.
3 - Bowser's Big Blast minigame from Mario Party 2 returns, coincidentally being one of the worst minigames that could return for being one of battle and luck
4 - The special gifts, which are the gifts in which you have to achieve certain objectives in specific minigames, can be very frustrating like Shy Guy's plate or the worst and most difficult of all the Goomba Clock
Also, if you don't have that gift, you won't be able to have the star trophy

https://preview.redd.it/0cp8ruz4c0qa1.png?width=400&format=png&auto=webp&s=4393aa4dc8c97ca8c6c25744cd35d16c2ff6bd52
5 - Bowser's mushroom made it the RAREEST item not only in the game, but almost in the saga (although not as much as the miracle capsule of Mario Party 5) In that unlike Mario Party 2 and 3, it only appears when Bowser does a gift falling into his box and almost never comes out, believe me when it is easier to win the lottery of 100 game coins several times than to get the bowser mushroom.
6 - The Doors Of Doom minigame in the extra mode is possibly one of the worst minigames in the saga, because it is practically and randomly to chance, all the doors have an already determined pattern that you cannot avoid even with tricks, although fortunately it is not in the main mode.
Final calification: 7.10/10
4 - Mario Party

https://preview.redd.it/4jznk9khe0qa1.png?width=380&format=png&auto=webp&s=c9bb68df9759a107dfd3d6b558e92281cd94ec91
Good Points:
1 - It has a new, interesting premise for a Mario game: Mario and friends having a party and Bowser wants to ruin it. Because of its originality, this game was a great success and created the Mario Party franchise with a lot of great sequels in future Nintendo consoles.
2 - This game, like the Mario Kart franchise, revolutionized a concept in video games, in the first it was a karting game with elements of the franchise and fun settings and the second a board game but with playable minigames and a variety of boards and traps.
3 - The controls, despite the mini-games of crush buttons, are pretty decent and solid.
4 - Good graphics by the standards of the late 1990s.
5 - Playing on the island of minigames was a pretty good challenge, which is to play all the minigames in order to advance
6 - The soundtrack is very memorable and possibly the best music Mario Party ever.
7 - They have unique elements that no longer have in later installments, such as the Mushroom space, in which you can double dice or leave you immobile for one turn, and the one-player minigames, which were only seen again in the shit of Advance and in Mario Party 8. , (although there are only three and nothing else to appear in story mode)
Bad Points:
1 - THE INFAMOUS AND HORRIBLE MINI-GAMES OF ROTATING THE STICK, these include Tug O' War, Paddle Battle, Pedal Power
2 - Unlike Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64, which did have their elements as something revolutionary in the genre, There are no items in this game, which cuts out a significant amount of strategy the player can play. The closest thing to "items" are the random dice blocks and the warp block, but they only appear randomly. Due to these factors, it is near impossible for a player who is behind to catch up to the person who is in first, the only real way they can do so is with chance time.
3 - You also have to be careful, because it is the only Mario Party where you can lose coins even in 4-player minigames
Final calification: 7.25/10
3 - Mario Party 5

https://preview.redd.it/mg81kmgvh0qa1.png?width=352&format=png&auto=webp&s=7c23d4cfe2798cfe66c57b0215e169e2279ae699
Good points:
1 - Of all the Mario Parties that used the orb formula, this is the best.
2 - Good story mode in which it is based on preventing the world of dreams from becoming the world of nightmares
3 - They removed Donkey Kong and added Toad as a playable
4 - Besides that they added the category of Donkey Kong minigames which are very good
5 - Lots of great modes, like Party Mode, Story Mode, Mini-Game Mode, Super Duel Mode, and Bonus Mode. Beach Volleyball that returns from the previous game or the battle mode with ships (Super Duel Mode), in which you play a tournament or with a friend a battle with a custom ship, besides that the more minigames you win, you unlock improvements for that way
6 - The capsules are great items, as you can place them on the boards or use them on yourself (which will cost you coins), and is a nice new technique of using items introduced in this game.
7 - This game marks the playable debuts of Toad, Boo, and Koopa Kid.
8 - The Star Spirits from Paper Mario are the hosts of this game, and are very enjoyable to watch, as they represent the dreams very well, being that stars are out at night when everyone’s dreaming.
9 - The Duel minigames that had been taken from the fourth game returned.
10 - The new boards are fully rendered in 3D, and are all fun to play, with many being enjoyable Dream worlds, and the final board, Bowser’s Nightmare, being outstanding, showing not all dreams are good.
11 - It is possibly one of the last Mario Party to have memorable soundtracks
Bad Points:
1 - MANY OF BOWSER'S MINI-GAMES are very frustrating or almost impossible to save and there are many consequences for losing whereas in the fourth game, Bowser's mini-games had only one loser (although the good thing is that Donkey Kong can save you from time to time in return to lose 20 coins, although it is rare)
2 - Some of the dueling minigames get very unfair because they are very luck based and adding the fact that from this Mario Party stars are bet on duels makes it more fucked up.
3 - It is also the classic Mario Party with the most mini-games to press the button quickly
4 - Combining it with the colon, the worst of all is Button Mashers, because you have to press a lot of buttons at the same time very quickly.
5 - Despite the capsules being great items, the Capsule System itself is inferior compared to the items. Instead of deciding which item to buy, you get a random capsule. Not only that, but you also need to pay if you want to use the capsule on yourself, and no matter if you throw your capsule on a space, your own capsule will harm you, which can make the game pretty unfair at times. Thankfully, Mario Party 6 did it right with the orb mechanic along with making the orbs purchasable too.
Also see action the miracle capsule is almost impossible to see
Final calification: 7.50/10
2 - Mario Party 2

https://preview.redd.it/lb6ikon4m0qa1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc968339d93c41aef4fa4cea5dc298d3f5e4e966
Good Points:
1 - Good graphics by the standards of the end of the 1990s.
2 - The soundtrack is good and it has memorable songs like Bowser Appears, Keepin on the Path, Going Somewhere, Let The Game Begin, Horror Land and Couldn't Be Better.
It is the second game along with the first with the best soundtrack
3 - The game has 6 boards and in each changes the appearance of the characters to suit the theme of the board, This dramatically increases the game's replay value. Although there's fewer boards than its prequel, their much higher in quality.
4 - There are over 65 minigames in this game, which is a slight improvement on the 50 minigames from the previous installment. Compared to its predecessor, Its minigames are of much higher quality. It also ports over many of Mario Party 1's minigames, but are improved.
Nintendo learned the lesson of the minigames where you have to roll the analog stick about and since Mario Party 2, the analog stick has been used sparingly and by the time of the GameCube, Nintendo's analog sticks have gotten much more comfortable to use. Nintendo also did not create more mini-games that rely on using constant rotation of the analog stick to win until Mario Party: Island Tour.
5 - It is the first Mario Party to include items, Allowing much greater amount of strategic play.
6 - The game has a pretty decent amount of content for an N64 game released in 1999, with there being a lot more features and a better UI than the previous game, which is very impressive and quite the nice amount of accomplishment to take the new at the time spin off series in a new turn by expanding the gameplay a bit and fixing some flaws that were previously apparent.
7 - It was responsible for setting the foundation for later installments, as with the new features implemented into this games like items would also see a decent amount of changes in later installments, and some of the newer games would tend to spice things up a bit to make the formula fresh and exciting.
Bad Points:
1 - The fact that many of the minigames are ports of the first game can be a turn off. About 1/3rd of the minigames are recycled from Mario Party.
2 - You can only carry one item in this game, which either decreases or increases an items value. Skeleton Keys are essentially worthless if you don't intend on going through a gate immediately, and the Plunder Chest is overpowered as it can prevent any other player from getting strong items like Magic Lamps, Boo Bells, Gold Mushrooms, or even other Plunder Chests without their items getting stolen. The other players essentially have to team up to counter the player with the plunder chest.
Final calification: 7.88/10
1 - Mario Party 3

https://preview.redd.it/0ezp58asn0qa1.png?width=250&format=png&auto=webp&s=c9490e600d418c004a809f594b90d76ec53fb246
1 - Duel Mode was interesting, and was a fun new mode to add.
2 - The game has 12 boards, 6 from Battle Royal, and 6 from Duel Mode, and it beats out Mario Party 1's number of boards: 8, as each of these new boards have their own new functions, which were really fun, including Waluigi's Island, our first character themed board since Mario Party 1.
3 - There are 71 minigames in the game, which is a slight improvement compared to Mario Party 2's 65 minigames.
4 - Introduced some fun new mini games, like Storm Chasers, Eatsa Pizza, Vine with Me, and Toadstool Titan
5 - The first Mario Party game to expand the roster, as Daisy and Waluigi make their playable debut.
6 - Like Mario Party 2, good graphics by 2000 standards.
7 - The soundtrack was good, especially during the mini games. Some memorable songs are Genie’s Theme, Chilly Waters, Stardust Battle, Spiny Desert, and Panic!.
8 - Gave us our first boss fight mini game, being vs the Millennial Star, Stardust Battle, which was awesome.
9 - Introduced Story Mode, which was great.
10 - While Tumble was basically a Toad knock-off, he was still a favorite cute character as he was the first of the unique Mario Party hosts of each game, especially when he's revealed to have the true Millennium Star, who is super adorable, at the end of Story Mode.
11 - In Battle Royal, you can now carry 3 items, compared to just 1 in Mario Party 2.
12 - There are item minigames, as well as item questions for item spaces, making this more interesting, and you can get a rare item from the question if you pick the most honest answer, but only if you are answering Toad's question.
13 - They have an impressive total of 20 items, some new and some returning from Mario Party 2.
Bad Points:
1- Game Guy was not a fun mode, as these mini games are hard and would result in coins being lost if you end up losing in these mini games. Thankfully, this was the only Mario Party game to have this.
2 - The Lucky Lamp is way too cheap to buy, it costs 20 coins to get. In the previous game and next game, it was 30 coins. The lowered price makes it very easy for players to get stars with ease.
Final calification: 8.20/10
And what is your favorite Mario Party? put it down
Now I will leave the sources of Wikipedia, MarioWiki and some other person who influenced my opinions to give credit

2023.03.26 08:14 Noy2222 Cosby & Hitler

Title: "Cosby & Hitler"
Genre: Live Action Comedy
Synopsis: In an absurd twist of fate, the cosmos is thrown into chaos, resulting in the most bizarre time travel mishap in history. Notorious historical figure Adolf Hitler finds himself hurtling through time and landing in the 1980s in the United States, right on the set of "The Cosby Show."
The confusion doesn't end there—comedian and TV star Bill Cosby is baffled when he stumbles upon Hitler, who is dressed in his full military uniform and ranting in German. In a series of comedic misunderstandings, Bill Cosby mistakes Hitler for an eccentric method actor auditioning for a role on his show.
Despite their wildly different backgrounds and the language barrier, Cosby and Hitler are stuck with each other in this time-bending, genre-bending sitcom. Cosby, always the optimist, is determined to help Hitler turn over a new leaf and become a better person, while Hitler, who is trying to make sense of this strange new world, is bewildered by Cosby's antics and the bizarre nature of 1980s American pop culture.
Each episode follows the duo's misadventures as they navigate cultural differences, language barriers, and, of course, Hitler's propensity for dictator-like behavior. Along the way, they form an unlikely friendship and learn valuable lessons about acceptance, forgiveness, and the importance of leaving the past behind.
As they deal with wacky neighbors, eccentric family members, and the ever-present challenge of being roommates, "Cosby & Hitler" promises to deliver an abundance of laughs with a sprinkle of heartfelt moments. Although their journey is riddled with obstacles, their friendship blossoms into something that transcends time and history.
Note: Given the real-life actions and controversies surrounding both Adolf Hitler and Bill Cosby, this show would require careful and sensitive handling to avoid trivializing serious historical and social issues. The creators of the show would need to take a thoughtful approach to addressing these complexities while maintaining the comedic tone of the series. It is important to consider the potential ethical implications and to consult with experts, stakeholders, and affected communities before proceeding with the development of this show.
In casting "Cosby & Hitler," it's essential to select actors who can balance comedy with the complexities and sensitivities of the show's themes. Additionally, given the historical nature of the characters, actors who can portray the likeness and mannerisms of the real-life figures would be important. Here are some suggested actors and characters for the show:
Characters and Suggested Actors: Adolf Hitler: Actor: Christoph Waltz Character Description: The historical figure of Adolf Hitler finds himself inexplicably transported to 1980s America. Struggling to adapt to a new time and culture, Hitler is both fascinated and frustrated by the modern world. Despite his authoritarian nature, he finds himself in comedic situations that force him to loosen up and learn important life lessons.
Bill Cosby: Actor: Anthony Anderson Character Description: Bill Cosby is portrayed as an optimistic and charming TV star, who is determined to turn Hitler into a better person. Although bewildered by Hitler's antics, Cosby remains positive and attempts to teach Hitler about love, acceptance, and the power of laughter.
Linda: Actor: Retta Character Description: Linda is the no-nonsense producer of "The Cosby Show." She is initially skeptical of Hitler's presence on set but eventually becomes an ally in Cosby's mission to reform Hitler.
Gustav: Actor: Simon Helberg Character Description: Gustav is an eccentric and quirky history professor who is an expert on World War II. He becomes Hitler's impromptu translator and cultural guide, helping him navigate the intricacies of 1980s America.
Ms. Jenkins: Actor: Loretta Devine Character Description: Ms. Jenkins is Cosby's wise and witty neighbor who always has sage advice to offer. Her life experiences and wisdom prove invaluable to both Cosby and Hitler as they navigate their unlikely friendship.
Rudy: Actor: Caleb McLaughlin Character Description: Rudy is a young and energetic member of "The Cosby Show" cast. His youthful exuberance and curiosity often lead to humorous interactions with Hitler, as he tries to teach the dictator about video games, breakdancing, and modern slang.
Note: As previously mentioned, the show's concept would require careful handling due to the real-life actions and controversies surrounding both Adolf Hitler and Bill Cosby. The portrayal of these characters should be approached thoughtfully, and it is important to consult with experts, stakeholders, and affected communities before proceeding with casting and production.

2023.03.26 08:10 Dryadversity The dialectic, depicted literally

The dialectic, depicted literally
Raya Lucaria's debate hall features a purple banner in the middle of its eastern wall.
https://preview.redd.it/oq27hyfsw0qa1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb224b0dd83624d1c32ddf0f186ca94fcebb17bf
The product of the debate would be represented by violet, in between the opposing debate stands, and in the middle of the wall as the purple banner.
https://preview.redd.it/6vnfla8ay0qa1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a98f668aa6ed87b14a8f8919c22d9e2fd91f815

DC's 'Trinity'- Or, how to revise/adapt 'Batman v Superman' and other such crossover tales for television (Part 1 of 2)
The \"dawn of justice\" starts with them.
Been a little while since I touched on DC Comics-related TV, huh?
And boy, has a lot happened. The DCEU's undergoing a reboot, Superman and Lois is taking off in a direction further distancing itself from the Arrowverse, and the bonkers Titans is coming to an end.
While all this plays out, I think I'll finally return to my ongoing revision of DC Comics on TV, started with a Superman series. This time, let's pitch a first-encounter story in which Superman meets his fellow superheroes Batman and Wonder Woman.
The iconic Trinity are a fantastic dynamic in any iteration. They compliment each other in so many ways, and represent the best in their universe's array of heroes.
There's a lot of story to tell anytime they're together. And while I do admittedly enjoy (parts of) Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman, there was a lot of story to be told in just one film...
That wouldn't necessarily be an issue for TV, though, would it? More than that, a TV-based crossover of the three heroes could allow for even more to be done.
So, let's return to the index for this hypothetical "Maxverse". An outline in which I revise DC-related television as a big-budget shared universe on HBO Max as opposed to the CW.
Picking up after the third season of Superman, and the first two seasons of Wonder Woman, it's time for...
TRINITY
Created by-
Aaron Guzikowski and Steven Knight
Music by-
Bear McCreary and Stephanie Economou
Starring-
Heroes
David Giuntoli as Superman, Sam Witwer as Batman, Elodie Yung as Wonder Woman
Allies
Rachel McAdams as Lois Lane, Jimmy Smits as Daniel Leone, Michael Beihn as Dan Turpin,
Iain Glen as Alfred Pennyworth, Giancarlo Esposito as Lucius Fox,
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Steve Trevor, Freya Allan as Cassandra Sandsmark
Villains
Faran Tahir as Ra's al Ghul, Denise Gough as Clea, Glen Powell as Conduit,
****
A little reference to the title inspiration and source material).
In general, picture a three-part event broadcast on HBO Max (as all other projects in this revision are).
Plot inspirations for this crossover include
  • Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
  • World's Finest: The Batman/Superman Movie
  • Trinity
  • Gotham Knights
  • Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia
The story is a continuation of Superman and Wonder Woman's tales after his first three seasons and her first two, and an introduction to the Batman of this revised TV-verse.
****
THE LEAD THREE
Let's examine the ideal roles of the Trinity, and how they complete the puzzle that is the DC's core hero lineup.
With the help of three commissioned "portraits" which present my headcanon appearances of each character.
  • Credit to the commissioned artists is below the post, as well as the full artworks.
    • Included along more personal headshots made, sheepishly I admit, with AI.
      • Yes, it's problematic if made for profit, but as a fun little pastime I think it's okay.
Clark Kent/Superman
  • Superman is the paragon, the decisive and selfless boyscout who can always be counted on to do the right thing.
  • He sometimes relies more on his feelings and in-the-moment thinking, and his image and immense power may lead him to self-doubt. But Clark is nonetheless an effective leader who serves as a moral "center" in the sense of what a true hero should be.
Bruce Wayne/Batman
  • Batman is the pragmatist, the everyman whose resourcefulness and big-picture mentality helps him stand shoulder to shoulder with gods.
  • His cold, calculating nature and difficulty trusting others may sometimes do more harm than good. But Bruce's commitment to justice, keen strategic mind and strong sense of humanity make him every bit as much a hero as his friends.
Diana Prince/Wonder Woman
  • Wonder Woman is the wise and seasoned warrior, an immortal with centuries worth of knowledge and an entire nation at her back.
  • She may occasionally struggle with the moral greyness of the modern world, seeing issues in a more black-and-white lens. But Diana's compassion, the responsibility that comes with being a princess and her absolute loyalty to those she loves makes her the ideal peacekeeper among superheroes.
Now, here's a pretty crucial part of their dynamic:
No member of the Trinity should be overly glorified at the expense of the others. Even if one particular character receives more focus than the others depending on the story being told, all should be treated with respect.
The best comics, shows and films are the ones which feature the Trinity as completing each other and cancelling out each other's flaws, as opposed to any one being put on a pedestal while the others are painted as inefficient or lacking in comparison.
  • Looking at you, Justice League: Doom (AKA, how to completely miss the point when adapting a story meant to criticize Batman, not go "he's right, actually" and let him off the hook).
****
THE VILLAINS
The conflict of the series is, in essence, an action thriller throwing the trio of Clark Kent, Diana Prince and Bruce Wayne together to tackle a global conspiracy headed by three powerful villains.
Said villains are as follows. Passing over some of the more traditional choices and instead going for a very personal angle that tests each hero.
Ra's al Ghul
Leader of the international syndicate called the League of Assassins. A genocidal terrorist with aims of wiping out most of human civilization and restoring Earth to an ecological paradise guided by his own sense of forceful justice.
Ra's has a history with Batman, having been one of his many teachers as a young man. His daughter, Talia, even shared a brief but passionate romance with Bruce before differing ideals separated them.
While he once saw Bruce as a potential apprentice and even a suitor for Talia, Ra's now regards him as a disappointment, and is determined to destroy him.
Character notes:
  • The Ra's of this hypothetical Maxverse leans hard into the more ruthless, cruel and genocidal nature of the character from the source material.
    • As cool and even likable as Ra's can be in, say, the Nolan films, let's not forget the Ra's of the actual comics was fine with such horrific historical crimes as the Holocaust so long as it whittled down the human population.
  • Ra's is every bit as strong and skilled as Bruce Wayne, and his centuries' worth of experience makes him at times even more dangerous.
  • Ra's is the chief mastermind of the force opposing Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.
Queen Clea
The belligerent, egomaniacal ruler of the aquatic city-state Venturia. Possessing immense superhuman and hydrokinetic powers, Clea is descended from nobles of the ancient empire of Atlantis, before her people were exiled for their warmongering ways.
Clea detests the Amazons of Themyscira for their peacekeeping mission. She is eager to meet and kill Wonder Woman, regarding her as the embodiment of Amazonian weakness and failure in Man's world.
Character notes:
  • Aside from hating the Amazons, Clea is also a raging misandrist who once swayed a splinter group of Amazons to break off and take a lifestyle treating men as livestock.
    • In essence, the icky Amazon backstory in the New 52 continuity, which was thankfully retconned.
  • Clea's existence as an Atlantean not only introduces the underwater civilization to this continuity, it foreshadows the existence of King Arthur Curry AKA Aquaman.
    • Also referencing a sometimes hostile history between more aggressive Atlantean rulers and Themyscira in ages past.
  • Clea's appearance is less Silver Age camp, more in the style of Atlantean characters like Ocean Master, or the Flashpoint-universe Aquaman.
Ken Braverman/Conduit
Childhood rival and bully of Clark Kent. Braverman resented his more friendly and well-liked classmate, who seemed destined to outdo him at every turn. His bouts of failing health and strained relationship with his father exacerbated things, until Braverman had a pathological hatred of Clark.
In adulthood, Conduit has become a private military contractor and discovered he possesses metahuman powers. Powers tied to a mutation passed down by his mother, who witnessed a meteor shower over Smallville shortly before giving birth to her son.
Possessing the power to channel radiation through the use of special implants, Braverman now dons the mantle of the mercenary Conduit.
Character notes:
  • Of the three main villains, Braverman is the least interested in serving the "master plan", seeking only profit or petty revenge against Clark Kent/Superman.
  • Braverman suspected Clark's double life the moment Superman was introduced to the world, having always sensed something different about him.
  • Conduit's cybernetic implants in this continuity are a pilfering and upgrade on the same procedure which created the cyborg Metallo.
****
Feel free to re-read the index post and refresh on Superman 1-2 and Wonder Woman 1-2 before proceeding.
PROLOGUE
The story begins in a prologue, set in 2010.
A trafficking ring housed in Gotham City processes several teenagers. They demonstrate latent superhuman abilities, and are kept in a cell separate from the others.
At nightfall, the ring is attacked by the feared Batman, making his first full debut in the Maxverse series.
Utterly dismantling the base of operations, Batman corners one of the mercenaries posted and demands to know who he's working for.
  • His interrogation methods are quick, ruthless and to the point akin to Rocksteady's Arkham series.
  • The endangerment of children makes his debut here a tad forceful.
  • As a veteran hero who's supposedly been acting for decades now, the Batman of this universe is in his prime.
The mercenary, after being "persuaded", gives a name and provides a card marked with a symbol. The symbols of the ancient, feared order called the League of Assassins.
But when the mercenaries escape with the help of another metahuman, one demonstrating hydrokinetic powers, Batman realizes he may be in over his head. And he needs help.
EPISODE 1
The meeting of the three heroes, the unveiling of the global threat they face and seeds of the Trinity's tight partnership.
Batman's investigation into the metahuman trafficking ring causes him to reach out to Superman, Clark Kent. After a tense meeting in which Batman summons Superman to gauge him and determine if he's a help or a threat, they agree to look into it together.
  • In their early encounters, Batman's detached, paranoid personality makes it difficult for him and Superman to work together.
  • Batman deduces Superman's identity within a day, while Superman forms his suspicions but doesn't make them known.
  • The trail heats up when it's determined the organization abducting young superhumans is the PMC called Pipeline.
During a nightly surveillance, Clark Kent picks up on a third agent trailing Pipeline. A woman, whom Clark recognizes as antique art curator Diana Prince.
  • Diana is under the cover of attending a gala in Metropolis.
  • Clark's super-senses detect an incredible amount of power radiating from Diana, leading him and Bruce to suspect her as another metahuman.
During the gala, a bug by Bruce Wayne picks up a break-in at LexCorp, which he and Clark Kent trail.
  • They find Diana Prince having already taken it, and she reveals she's been on the hunt for months already, but made little progress.
  • It's revealed Lex Luthor has gathered files on various sightings of superhumans across the globe, and a leak in his company's dealings led the League of Assassins and Pipeline to get ahold of it.
  • The leak is Ken Braverman, mercenary and old rival of Clark's from childhood.
  • A tense and angered Clark makes a note to confront Luthor about this.
The trio's paths unite, and just in time as an attempt to intercept a Pipeline shipment breaks into a full firefight in Gotham Port.
Diana makes her entry and first appearance to the others as Wonder Woman, helping Batman and Superman when they encounter enemies stronger than any of them expected.
  • Pipeline soldiers are armed with advanced weaponry reverse-engineered from the Kryptonian invasion of 2008.
  • Some are enhanced with a super-steroid called Venom, a formula Batman is familiar with in past cases.
  • A squad of aquatic warriors, which Diana recognizes as Atlanteans, leap from the water.
The skirmish reaches its head when a man clad in dark, medieval looking armor appears. Drawing a bow, he fires an arrow straight at Batman.
Superman stops the arrow, but to his and the others' shock is critically injured as the arrow pierces his chest. The arrowhead is imbued not with steel, but to the radioactive substance kryptonite.
Both Batman and Wonder Woman are forced to retreat with the wounded hero.
Batman takes the other two to the safety of his lair, the Batcave.
  • Upon reaching the cave, Batman confirms Clark Kent's suspicions and removes his cowl, showing his identity as Bruce Wayne.
  • Bruce's butler, Alfred Pennyworth, is summoned to inform Lois Lane what's happened.
On an island owned by the League of Assassins, its associates are gathered and the man in the black armor is confronted by Conduit. Conduit is furious, having wanted a shot as Superman himself.
His leader, accompanied by the woman leading the rogue Atlanteans, removes his mask. Revealing himself as the Demon's Head. Ra's al Ghul.
The founder of the League cows Conduit, telling the mercenary he will have his revenge in due time. For now, they must focus on their plan.
The next stage of which relies on obtaining a particular child, far more powerful than the others the League has gathered.
A child with the blood of the "Old Gods".
****
And that's where we'll leave it for now.
Episodes 2 and 3 will be featured in future posts. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this one. Let me know your ideal crossover between DC's three lead heroes, and who you'd pick to play them on TV or the imminent film reboot.
  • Assuming all three might be recast.
I'll see you next time!

2023.03.26 08:00 Constant_Major1542 AITA for showing my brother how much he’s overeating?

My [21m] brother [20m] is overweight, about 200 pounds at 5’10, and my family wants him to lose weight. They enlisted my help with this over spring break because according to them, a) I’m very fit and a personal trainer so I have personal experience b) I’m a pre med so I have some level of academic knowledge on this. I told them it would be better to consult a doctor, or better yet a nutritionist, but they said I should at least try.
I first asked him if that’s what he wants, and he agreed. I told him the key for weight loss is caloric deficit— doing cardio will also help, but a caloric deficit of say, 500 calories off what he needs to maintain his current weight + cardio will burn even more together.
I did the calculations to figure out how many calories he should be eating per day— there’s multiple ways to calculate it, so I ran different calculations, and since they all came out to similar results I just averaged them. I told him how to measure his calories, and then let him do that.
He came to me a week later saying my methods was wrong because he checked his weight and he actually gained two pounds. I told him this was quite literally impossible if he was following the caloric restriction— doctors haven’t reported any illnesses that could cause weight gain/prevent weight loss, and I haven’t noticed any symptoms of any such diseases, so in that case eating less quite literally would have to mean weight loss. He insisted he was doing everything right, so I told him to just show me everything he ate during the next day. He agreed.
The next day, I saw his issue right away— he was eating what he assumed to be small portions, and was thus underestimating the calories. For example he ate two slices of pizza and estimated it was 200 calories because it’s only 2 slices, and ate a scoop of ice cream and estimated it as 50 calories. I tallied up the actual amount of calories he was eating, and he was eating 1000 more than he needed to maintain his weight, or in other words 1500 more than the amount he’s supposed to eat to lose weight.
I told him the science doesn’t lie on this and it’s clear he’s eating too much to lose weight. I proceeded to tell him that he doesn’t have to lose weight if he doesn’t want to, but if he does, the amount he’s eating is too much.
He got angry at this, and called me TA. I don’t think that’s fair. I asked him at every turn if he wanted to do this, and he said he did, so I wasn’t forcing something on him he didn’t want. AITA?

2023.03.26 07:58 WarrenBloodmoon never made a game before, advice requested

I had an idea for a game but I've never made a game before I need to know If this is something I will realistically be able to put hours into and see progress or if it will require Far more advanced thigs than i will be able to figure out without learning the program in FULL

I plan on using Unreal engine the game is a strategy game with card based elements
(think like fire emblem with a deck of cards for items and equipment)

Two opposing players each having a party of 1-5 Heroes navigate game grid to find and eliminate enemy party.

Game play thoughts
Managing AP to balance between making sure your party is ready for combat and scouting for enemy player in the early game, and strategically spending AP for positioning, Combat, and Item usage in late game

Win condition- Eliminate all enemy party members

*Game Board
-(Size varies By Map style) Semi-random generated grid each square represents a 1 meter area
-World Maps - allows more time for preparation before combat
Larger More open maps more often featuring mountains, rivers, and lakes
Interior maps - often begins combat on the first or second round very little preparation time
Smaller Arena style maps featuring smaller enclosed areas \-caves more often featuring streams and fire \-Building interiors often with impassable and blocked areas as obstacles to fight around (chairs, tables, pillars)

Terrain
-Flat
No Effect
-Fire
2 damage per square while moving 2 damage taking an action 5 damage ending a turn still in fire

-Shallow Water- reduce movement speed (TBD amount)
-Deep Water- only passable by swimming

-Mountain- Movement reduced to 1 while in mountains (returns to normal the round after exiting the mountains)

-Impassable
Movement is not allowed onto these squares but does not block line of sight (chairs, tables, crates, etc.)
-Blocked
Blocks Movement And Prevents Line of sight (Walls, doors. pillars)
(perhaps add event nodes?)

*"Party" 1-5 Heroes for each hero under 5 a player starts with they may add an additional card to their opening hand

opening hand default size is 3 cards

-Turns taken by characters based on "Initiative"
-each Hero has 2 "action points" or "AP" replenished at the start of each Round

*action list
-attack---Melee/Ranged/Magic
-draw
-move
-item
-free action---Hero abilities (does not cost AP)
-Wait - End turn without spending AP

only use an "action" once per turn (unless card says otherwise)

*ABILITY EXAMPLES (abilities that allow extra actions still cost AP)
-Swiftfoot- may use Move action a second time
-Nimble- Move may be used outside of the movement action window until all movement is used (ex. (max 5 movement) Spend AP to move 3 squares, spend AP to draw, may then move final 2 squares)
-Offhand- May use Attack action a second time at half damage(round damage down to nearest whole number)
-Fast hands- This character may use Item as free action instead (uses Free action and Item action but does not cost AP)
-Mountaineer- Movement speed is 3 instead of 1 while affected by mountainous terrain
-Bolster- +2 AC to allies within 3 squares
-First aid- May use attack action to instead heal 5 HP to ally within 3 squares
-Preparation- use 2 AP to ensure your next attack is a critical hit

2023.03.26 07:49 memorysaucespaghetti A bit of speculation on the S4 Special's plot

Is it just me, or does it seem like the reveal for what caused Wukong and Macaque's falling out is imminent now? All the pieces to explore that plotline are perfectly in place now -- Wukong is trapped in the scroll where he'll be forced to relive his deepest regrets (and we know that Macaque is a major one given that he was the first(?) ink form to come out of the scroll), and Mac is currently with the main gang and can provide his side of the story.
It makes sense to me that considering all this, a plot point in the special would be exploring how their relationship went awry. It also opens up more opportunities for further developing the other members of the Brotherhood, not to mention DBK + PIF and the Pilgrims.

If I'm even remotely correct on this and FB gave us their full backstory in the special I can guarantee I'll cry to it lmao. It's kinda wild to think that in just a few months, we might finally get to see see the complete story of what happened after seeing it teased for 4 seasons.

2023.03.26 07:34 SoccerSkilz Debate Challenge: It’s hypocritical to support a higher degree of taxation than you donate

Dear Destiny,
Step 1) If a cause is so important that a third-party ought to take money from you to support it (for the sake of social justice, say), then, without a good reason, you should support the cause by making the relevant sacrifices, whether they are forced upon you or not.
Step 2) There’s no good reason to reject the first (prima facia) principle in the case of wealth redistribution.
Step 3) Socialism (and social democracy) is a cause which rich socialists believe a third party (the government) ought to force them to contribute to (I.e., by taxation of their excess income).
Conclusion: So, rich socialists (and social democrats) ought to give away however much money they think they ought to have taken from them by third parties for the sake of social justice.
Objection 1: “Giving up that much money is far too burdensome.”
If that were true, then why do you support taxation by the same amount, even in cases where the net benefits don’t accrue to the rich, who would individually be better off consuming their excess wealth?
Objection 2: “The entire system is the problem; no one individual makes a meaningful difference.”
Note that if you think we have a moral obligation to vote (for Bernie Sanders, say) even though our chances of swinging an election are next to nil, this is just blatantly inconsistent. But, in any case, if you don’t think you’re morally entitled to your excess income, and that someone else has a stronger moral claim to it than you do, withholding it from them because your individual contribution won’t make a difference to the larger statistics of who has what hardly seems righteous. Imagine if I discovered that I was in possession of a stolen vehicle but decided to keep it because “what difference does returning just one item to which I am not entitled make to the larger reality of people not getting what they are entitled to?”
We would never say this in any other context in which justice is at stake. May I be a racist in the era of Jim Crow because my individual choice holds no sway over the system of racial injustice overall? Jason Brennan and Christopher Friedman give the example of a judge who refuses to pardon a criminal he discovers to be innocent from their last day of prison because a single day is just a drop in the ocean when compared to the monstrous injustice that is twenty years of wrongful incarceration. If wealth inequality is an injustice against the poor, then perhaps the same reasoning applies.
Objection 3: “Wealth inequality/labor exploitation is a nondivisible collective action problem.”
Obviously not: just donate to the right candidates, or help that single mother with an autistic child who is desperate for financial relief.
Objection 4: “Socialism/social democracy would become unappealing if people donated their money in the meantime to the degree that they think it ought to be taken from them by taxation in a perfect world.”
On the contrary, sacrifices tend to make people seem more sincere, and their example all the more compelling. And if Christians can convince people to join their causes in pursuit of an aspirational ideal while allowing for “just doing your best” in practice, so can socialists. The point is that the principle behind socialist ethics calls for something no one thinks is a plausible result of a moral theory: that we are guilty of a moral wrong if we fail to make what appear to commonsense like supererogatory sacrifices.
I would be thrilled to debate this with you sometime, that is if you aren't a huge pussy.
Best wishes,
Percy

2023.03.26 07:34 Wishful_kiwi If the art in the website gallery is Canon...

Why would the restoration group have a pic that include Wally's hand at the top of the page? There should have been no way for them to get promo art since that would be with the cast / production company. Is it possible that the member of the cast / restoration were forced into becoming puppets? Or is it possible that Wally can go between the neighborhood and the real world to pull in more people? It would explain why everything what was sent to them is in bright colored envelops because Eddie and the other puppets were the ones giving it to them, not them being "founded" out of pure interest.

2023.03.26 07:31 BiBiBiBingCrosby Beginner PvM Help

I know this kind of question is asked a lot around here, but I thought I'd explain my own problems in PvM and potentially see some new answers/opinions on what I could be doing better.
Let me start by saying, I am a veteran player, with everything maxed except for Archeology. I took quiet a lengthy break from RS and have recently come back around with the prospect of finally getting into PvM. I've spent countless hours watching YouTube videos, customizing my action bar, and practicing with some lower-difficulty bosses (for example Vindicta and Helwyr), but I can't so much as clear two kills in a row without going through an entire Yak's-worth of food! I've heard the constant reminders about relying on my defensive abilities, but it seems like I never heal enough or reduce enough damage to not force myself to eat just to stay alive. I see streams of people dealing fast, consistent damage using little to no food at all and it absolutely blows me away. Am I missing something crucial here?
I would post my geaskill levels, but I purely think this is a skill issue on my part. I currently use Revolution mode, and I'm working my way up to full manual. Does anyone have any advice on how to stay alive longer? Or even just PvM advice in general would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

2023.03.26 07:29 throwaway_6254910 I lost my mother when I was 21, and it has fucked with me every since.

My mother and I didn’t have the greatest relationship by any means. She lived out of state and I was raised by my dad and stepmother since I was 4 and she always resented that. She always made herself the victim in everything but I don’t think that this mindset was ever intentional in her part. I know she had a hard drug habit when she was younger and suffered a lot of abuse as a child that she never processed, so I think her brain being fried combined with trauma responses often made her an unreasonable person when facing adversity. But I never feared her. I both loved her and pitied her, even when she would call me selfish for setting boundaries.
It took many years of cutting her off and reconnecting with her (not out of need for attention from her, but I was genuinely worried about her well-being) for us to finally start having critical conversations about how she interacted with me and how she treated me. This is when she began opening up to me about everything she had been though as a child. I won’t go into the details but let’s just say I’m glad a few family members are six feet under. It was a better fate than they deserved, but at least I know they will never directly harm someone like that again. Our relationship was on the mend at best, and a bit contentious at worst during this time.
I found out that I was pregnant and told her the news and made it clear with her that my boundaries are to be respected if she wants to be a part of her grandchild’s life and she agreed. I was beginning to think this was the wake up call that she needed.
Until i lost the baby. I was a mess. My lummox of an ex offered no emotional support (even going so far as to say he had reached the acceptance stage of grief literally the day after it happened), I struggled with my own grief, feeling shame that my body couldn’t do something that it was literally designed to do. This ultimately triggered a trauma response in me not to tell my mother what happened, out of fear that she would say something hurtful and destroy all the progress we had made. Instead, I texted my sister the news and asked her to relay this to my mother, because I felt too ashamed to tell her myself. I’m not sure if my sister did, because in the four months between asking this of her and my mother passing, my mother never contacted me once.
I was dealing with my own grief and the turmoil in my personal relationship that I couldn’t bring myself to talk to anyone, let alone my estranged mother. Imagine my pain when my sister texts me “I’m not sure if it matters to you but our mother was just found passed away.” She was 45. She died in her sleep. It was painless and I’m great for that. She has been in pain her whole life. But now I have to live with the fact that I will never have true closure with her. I will never have the healthy relationship I deeply wanted with her
I made the 8 hour trip to her funeral, met family I didn’t even know I had. I learned she was the 2nd oldest of 16 kids. I have an aunt that is 3 years younger than me. (Grandpa had that dawg in him I guess.) It was a good time to be honest!
After I came back home, I met with a grief counselor that my job at the time had set me up with. I couldn’t put it into words then, but the thing that has fucked with me is that before her passing, death never bothered me. It was just the end of a life cycle. I was more or less indifferent about my own life and its eventual end. No one tells you this, but when you lose a parent, you’re forced to come to terms with your own mortality and any opinion you have ever had about death just goes out the fucking window.
I’m 27 now and the thought that I might not make it to tomorrow, let alone 45 terrifies me. I have kids now, and I was to see them grow up and get achy in the joints and gray in the hair before my time comes. I don’t want to die in my sleep at 45 because my mental health and trauma made me believe that self-care was overrated.
I’m trying to get my life together and make sure that cycle of heartache doesn’t continue.
I’m trying to take better care of myself. My job just offered a lot of free perks intended to improve my overall wellness including giving us $75 a quarter to spend on ourselves in a lifestyle savings account for wellness activities and equipment as well as an additional perk of a free virtual physical therapy service, which I’ve desperately needed. I’ve also started to use the whiteboard in my kitchen to write positive and motivating affirmations. I’m coming out of seasonal depression and I want to take better care of myself and I want it to really stick.
I need it stick. Because if I die tomorrow, I want it to show that I tried to live and be healthy before it was too late.
