2023.06.10 05:49 Quirky-Seesaw8394 [Skyrush, Hersheypark]. First big coaster in 6+ years.
Over the past 15+ years the only park I've been to annually has been Knoebel's, with an exception for King's Dominion and Six Flags Great Adventure once each between 8-10 years ago. Due to scheduling, Covid and what not, last year was the first time I was able to get back to Knoebel's in 6 or more years. It was also the first time my daughter (4) was able to go to a park. After a successful day there, I decided to look into season passes for more local parks. We eventually settled on Hersheypark.
April finally arrives and I take the little one to the park. Early in the day it was easy to catch glimpses of Candymonium and Skyrush doing their runs along the track, and I didn't really pay much attention to the lift hill on Skyrush. Then of course there's the distinct sound of Great Bear. Whenever we heard the 'roar' we'd either watch it if we were close enough, or comment that Great Bear is going. One of my goals of the first trip was to test the waters with how she'd do on coasters. She loved Cocoa Cruiser, so it was time to move up to Trailblazer. She also had a blast on that, so I'm looking forward to when she's bigger for more rides. Next up would be sooperdooplooper for her first inversion!
I forget where exactly we were in the park when I finally caught a glimpse of Skyrush going up the lift hill. I was both fascinated and unsure of what I'd seen, so I made it a point to watch the whole process going up. Damn, that thing is flying up the hill! From there it jumped up on my 'can't wait to ride that scale'. Fast forward to last week and our 6th trip to the park (so far just the two of us), and relatives say they'll be at the park the same day. Towards the end of the day I finally got my first "big" ride of the season in with the Hershey Triple Tower while the little ones were on the nearby kiddie rides (not unsupervised). I'd forgotten what a rush the upward launch can be since the last one I remember being on was Dominator at Dorney Park probably pushing 20 years. We got to another small kiddie area and checked the lines for a couple big rides and saw Skyrush had under a 5 minute wait. I was excited. First coaster in years. My last one would've been Phoenix, Twister, or Impulse at Knoebel's. I thought maybe Flying Turns briefly, but I've only been on it once and I'm pretty sure it was the year or two after it first "opened". We hop in line, picking something with a minimal wait. 6th row, I grabbed the right wing. Here we go. It starts going and I'm absolutely loving that lift hill. We're to the top in no time and as we crest the hill, I remember one of my favorite things about coasters and that I'd forgotten what it's like to hit that first drop. The rest of the ride was a blur but I remember some bits of airtime, and obviously some twists and turns. Can't wait to do that again!
Finally the whole family is able to go in a couple days so I'm excited to finally get to ride the coasters throughout the day. My daughter also loves watching Storm Runner launch and finds it hilarious, so I'm sure she'll enjoy watching me go. I'm hoping to get to ride most at least once with careful, early planning but we'll see how the day goes. I'm going to skip sooperdooperlooper and Comet for now and just wait until the little one is tall enough, though I may test out Comet prior at some point just to check the roughness. Anyhow, thanks for stopping by and potentially reading this probably too long post.
TLDR: Title, and very little variety of park visits over nearly two decades. Fascinated by the Skyrush lift hill. Finally got a ride in after several visits to the park. Going again in a couple days where I should be able to get big rides/ coasters in.

2023.06.10 05:43 MHamptonhere Bullying Neighbors
Me and my family just recently moved into a new neighborhood. The first month was no problem from neighbors. A month later one afternoon I was sitting in front of my house in my car and all of sudden a woman comes out of nowhere and proceeds to bang on my driver side car window. I rolled my window down a little bit to speak and she then accuses me by saying she saw me hitting my neighbors bricks who lives directly next door to me and driving on their grass. I told her she was mistaken and that I never hit anyones bricks. She then proceeds to blow her cigarette smoke in my car. I then get out of the car and speak to her as I don't want her to continually blow her cigarette smoke in my car. I then asked her where she lives and she tells me she lives at the corner house while still blowing her cigarette smoke in my face. It seemed like she was doing all of this out of pettiness but as we were new to the neighborhood I decided not to start and argument and just politely ended the conversation. She then walks down to the corner house and turns the corner to another street. I thought nothing of it until a week later come to find out she doesn't live at the corner house and that she actually lives directly cross the street from me. I had hardly seen her or crossed paths so when she initially came up to my car I had no idea who this woman was. Please stay with me because this is where the madness begins. A week later I was leaving out for work. Now mind you I park my car on the street in front of my house sometimes and as you know you sometimes have to drive in a neighbors driveway when parking on the street to turn around. I did just that but instead of using the neighbors across the street driveway (cigarette lady) I decided to use the neighbor who lives directly next door to her to avoid any problems with cigarette lady since she lied and accused me of something I didn't do. As I was driving in this lady's driveway (who lives next door to cigarette lady) I ENSURED I didn't drive on her grass since again me and my family are new to the street and also since the cigarette lady has already made up a lie about me driving on someone else's grass I didn't want anymore problems. As I drove in her driveway was I went slow and made sure I didn't drive all the way in her driveway only up to the sidewalk. This lady then runs out her back door and comes up to her gate and yells something at me. I rolled my windows down and asked her what did she say because I didn't hear her. She then says "Don't get on my motherfucking grass". I was in complete shock. Because I made sure I wasn't on her grass and that I drove slow. I then say to her "You don't have to speak to me like that I never met you. You're being very ignorant with me. I'd appreciate it if you not talk to me in that manner" she then says "I don't give a fuck don't drive on my fucking grass, bitch" After this we get into a brief argument and I drive a way. When I come home she's already waiting on her porch and I was prepared to ignore her as I was still in shock someone could talk to someone like that who've never down anything to them. She then "Hey, I wanted to apologize for earlier." and I then say I do not accept your apology kindly as If Im being honest I was still upset by the names she called me. After I declined her apology she then says "Nevermind bitch". I knew then none of this was going to be good. I concluded that night that what might have triggered her to lie and say I was on her grass was because the cigarette lady told her I drove my neighbors grass so when I drove in her driveway she already had preconceived notions about me off of what she has heard from cigarette lady. Ever since then her and the cigarette lady has went to half the neighbors on our street lying to them telling them that I did this, that, and the third as if Im bullying them for no reason. Other neighbors has chosen "their side" because other neighbors would say stuff to me as Im walking my dog or when I wave at them they blatantly don't wave back. Whenever I would water my grass cigarette lady and driveway lady would get on one of their porches and gossip about me. I just ignore them until a week ago. Last week I decided to take my dog on a walk around the neighborhood as I normally do. Usually when I walk my dog I try to stay on my side of the street to avoid further confrontation but and sometimes I walk my dog on both sides cigarette lady and driveway lady side of the street as well as my own. And I decided to walk on both sides. As I began to walk my dog, driveway lady then looks out her front door and then rushes out her back door to walk her dog. I then said I will try to talk to her today and try to end the conflict. So I walked my dog to the corner of our street and waited for her to come around the block to speak to her. And I did I spoke to her and also mentioned to her I don't like the things she been doing and that it's ridiculous she has involved all the neighbors. She then said yes "I told everyone, I will keep telling everyone" from there I knew she was insane. So I politely asked her to stop the drama with my family and I and leave us alone and walk away and she agrees and we go our separate ways. Out of nowhere her mother and father pulls up in the middle of the street then jumps out the car and begin to yell at me. Mind you this lady is about 41 years old. I knew this was her parents because she called them mom and dad. I then say a few words back and just go home. I didn't even get to finish walking my dog. I go home lay down and 30 minutes later the police shows up at my door saying that the "driveway" lady parents called and told them I was walking my dog on the wrong side of the street and that I have been harassing her and the neighbors. I then ask him is it a crime to walk by dog on a public side walk although I always make sure my dog doesn't poop on anyones lawn. He says no and then actually agrees that her calling the police on me was ridiculous and that I have every right to walk my dog on either side of the street. So after that the police gives me an incident report number and I go inside. The police then goes over to driveway lady's front yard and speak to her and her family. So decided to walk my dog again since I didn't get to finish walking him the first time and I thought this was the perfect time since the police was there. I began walking my dog and this time I was going to walk around the corner to a different street. As I passing by the corner house on my street to go around the corner to a different street a man and his wife are on their porch starring at me with anger in their eyes I just looked away and kept walking. Then the woman on the porch goes "Who the fuck are you starring at" I said "I don't know you" and she then jumps off the porch and goes "Im [insert name] who the fuck are you" I tried to keep walking before I know it she's slapping me upside my head. Before I can defender myself the police who was once talking to "driveway" lady then runs up puts me in handcuffs then gives me a ticket for disorderly conduct. They then let me go and gave me my ticket. I was in tears and in shocked that this was really happening to me. I then told my family about it who lives near and my brother rush over and confronts the lady and her husband. Apparently she claims that I have been bullying "driveway" lady and that I'm a horrible person which is why she attacked me. The police refused to give her ticket for assault as they said "They didn't see anything" I know this was very long but what do I do. We have a court date set as well. She I hire a good lawyer or do I even have a case. Pertaining to the neighborhood do I contact city council? Where do I go from here?

2023.06.10 05:42 LittlestOrca Just quit my minimum wage job
I worked at a theme park, management was awful, everything was dirty and infested with mice, and all my supervisors were like 16. I was having daily meltdowns, and today I though “fuck it” and quit spontaneously. Now I feel happy, but also weirdly numb. My adhd and autism make it so, so hard to work any retail job, or to work more than 20 hours a week.
My parents are expecting me to find a new job, but for now I just want to relax and let myself recover for a couple of weeks. I have 3 months before I go back to school and get out of this fucking hellhole that is my hometown, hopefully for good. 3 months should be short enough that I don’t get completely burned out at another job, at least.
I hate how each job I work has a time limit before my mental health is in the gutter. But at least I’m out for now. And I can focus on me for a little bit.
Here’s hoping that you guys take some time to focus on yourselves as well, even if its just a little 💜💜

2023.06.10 05:35 lonelady75 How my coworker singlehandedly destroyed the best job of my life
This is an old story, like, more than 10 years old, but I occasionally find myself thinking and still fuming about this, and I don't have anyone to tell it to.
I had a job working at a Headstart preschool. It didn't pay great, but I loved the work. Like, to the point that I would sometimes go in on my days off because it was fun job. I loved the kids, I felt like I was doing something meaningful - we were a preschool in a very low income area, we had kids from the local homeless shelter, new immigrants, kids who had been kicked out of other preschools for behavior issues... we took them all, and it was great.
It was just a satisfying job that was also, somehow, not too mentally taxing. Like, when I went home from work, i was home. It wasn't like when I taught at an elementary school and would go home and do hours of work to prepare for the next day. It honestly was just a joy to go to work, something I know is incredibly rare and I truly valued it.
I had a coteacher, who I'll call Shelly. Shelly and I got along alright, not amazingly, but alright. Although over the years, she changed in some odd ways. The first and weirdest one was she began to smell. Our preschool was not religious, but it was located in a large, old school Anglican church, with very high ceilings, and there were days that I would walk into the church (not our preschool classrooms) and be able to smell that she was there. That's how bad it was. And it was doubly frustrating because we had very different fashion styles. She tended to dress up ,and I always was in jeans and a t-shirt. So while I don't know for sure, I'm would imagine anyone coming into the room would smell the B.O., look at the two adults in the room, and think "well, that must be coming off the woman in the old t-shirt, can't be from the woman in the little black dress."
But I tolerated it because what else could I do? We were a small preschool, no HR department. And I don't know how to bring that up without being super rude.
But that wasn't the thing that ruined the job.
Our preschool had two separate programs, morning and afternoon, with room for 16 kids in each. Because of the neighborhood we were in, there were a lot of kids who would come and go (like, kids from the shelter who would get housing, and move away, that sort of thing), so our supervisor was always out doing community outreach to make sure we were full. We weren't always full, but that was part of her job.
But our supervisor ended up making a financial error, and got fired (she landed on her feet, I still hear from her occasionally, she's fine). The board of trustees offered me the job, but I know I'm not an administrator, so I refused, and they offered it to my coworker Shelly. And she took it. Which initially I was happy about because it would mean she would not be in the classrooms with me, and I wouldn't have to smell her.
One of the first things Shelly did was align our preschool with a large local Community Health Center (CHC). Which meant we were no longer an independent preschool run by a board of trustees made up of a bunch of old church ladies, we were now a part of a large organization with hundreds of staff. There was a slight increase in benefits, which initially came with a slight decrease in pay, which I remember finding a bit funny, but that was fine.
But almost immediately things got worse at the actual job. Our preschool was maybe a 4 minute walk away from a local library, with no street crossings in between, and we had, for years, taken our kids to the library once a month. We'd usually ask for one parent volunteer for that day, and if we couldn't get one, we'd ask a librarian to come to the preschool and walk with us so the kids would be safe. Suddenly, that was no longer permitted because of safety and liability concerns (the CHC was not willing to take the risk).
For years we had had random "water days" in the summer when it was really hot, where we would set up kiddy pools and sprinklers in our little backyard. I had gone and bought a bunch of kids clothes from local thrift shops using my own money and we would tell parents at the beginning of the summer that if the weather was hot, we would have water play day, and then if they were too wet, we would put them in the thrift store clothing, send them home and ask the parents to return the thrift store clothes. We would get about 80% of the clothing back, but it was fine. The kids loved it, no parents ever complained. But the CHC said that wasn't allowed anymore. We could only have Water Days on preplanned days when the parents could send their own change of clothing. And that effectively ended it because how could we know when the weather was going to be good for it?
We had also done monthly field trips to local museums and parks (again, always with volunteers -- we had 3 volunteers who came on regular days every week, and we would ask for parent volunteers as well). But the CHC thought this was too much of a liability risk and no longer permitted it. So that sucked.
But then something else began to happen. When we would lose children from the program due to them moving or aging out, they were not getting replaced, and our numbers got really low. This had happened before, but only ever for a month or so. This went on for several months. And of course, the CHC was super concerned. Because while we were a non-profit, and the parents didn't pay, we got money from the government to cover the cost of each child, and if there weren't enough children, the preschool would actually lose money.
The CHC started coming down on Shelly after maybe 6 months of this, but it just didn't get better. I arrived one morning to do my morning preparations and I could hear Shelly in the office with someone from the CHC and Shelly was yelling something or other, and then I heard her say "Well, maybe I shouldn't be here then", and that was the last I saw her for almost a year. She quit that day.
We got a new supervisor within a week, who did the proper community outreach, and we were filled within maybe 2 weeks again. So Shelly just hadn't done her job. But the problem was that 6 months of not being full had put us very firmly in the red, so the CHC decided to stop our preschool having 2 programs for the morning and afternoon and reduced us to one full day program. And that's when everything fully went to shit.
When you have a preschool that is open for 6 hours or more, suddenly there are things legally mandated by the government that you have to do. We had to provide breakfast, 2 snacks, and lunch. We had to have a nap time, craft time, and indoor and outdoor playtime (separate times). And this would have been fine except for the fact that the CHC had another preschool and so to save costs, they decided to combine the bus routes, which because of timing and schedules meant that our kids were with us for exactly 6 hours.
All of those government mandated things? They take up exactly six hours. So we had ZERO flexibility. I don't know if you noticed, but there was nothing in that list of things that included activities like reading together, circle time, etc. Basically, there was now no real teaching time going on.
Oh, and naptime was hell. People think it would be relaxing, but trying to get 16 kids to go to sleep at the same time is a nightmare. They are not all tired at the same time. Some of them don't nap anymore. Some of them cry, some of them need to be held to fall asleep, and then others get jealous, it was just... the worst. And it was government mandated to be, I think 2 hours? So it was two hours of trying to get kids to stay on their cots. I hated every second of it. We all did.
I was literally sneaking time during this whole ordeal to read and do educational circle activities with the kids. Like, I'm not exaggerating. My supervisor would be out for the day for something and I would think "OH GOOD! She's gone, I can have storytime today! Maybe we can do a counting game! YAY!" Because I would get in trouble if she was around because it was taking away from the things that we were legally required to do. The job went from being super fun, fulfilling and meaningful to feeling like I was babysitting and just making sure the kids didn't die.
I was the last of the "old" teachers to quit. I stuck it out for maybe 18 months. There had been, I think 5 staff from before the Community Health Center. The rest of them all quit within the first year.
Now, this might seem like just a random consequence of Shelly being bad at her job. But here's where it gets worse. Maybe 2 months before I quit ( and yeah, this definitely had an effect on me and wanting to stay), Shelly came back to visit. She and I were having a friendly chat, and I was telling her about the changes and how we were now a full day program and she looks away and says -- "You know, when I started, it was just half day. Not two half day programs, we were only open in the morning. I really liked it then. And I didn't need any more hours, that was enough for me to live on."
I looked at her a bit confused and said "well, I'm glad it was 2 half day programs by the time I started, I could barely make due with that income, to be honest."
And she shrugged, and then said "I kinda thought that if we couldn't fill the two halves, the Community Center would take it back to just mornings. I guess they went the other way."
And I just stared at her. And I think we spoke for a few more minutes and then she left.
She never said it outright, but I'm certain she deliberately tanked the program to try and cut it back to a halfday program but they went in the opposite direction. And made a wonderful job into a miserable one. And I think that was what took the wind out of my sails. I was out of there (and literally out of the country -- I live in Korea now) within a couple of months.

2023.06.10 05:31 gymnasticsprincess Desperate Plea for Help
| Hi Everyone. My name is Stacey. If you’ve watched any of Julien’s live music on YouTube, I guarantee you’ve seen my videos. I have documented nearly every single show from Boston, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, surrounding, for the last 6 years, including Boygenius in 2018 and the Turn Out the Lights Release Party & Q&A sessions, etc. I’ve been to over 20 shows. And FWIW I’m a nurse so if anyone was at Central Park last summer, I was the one assisting the person w/ the medical problem mid-show. Anyway. I’m also a huge Taylor Swift fan and I have been since I was a kid. I saw her when she was an opener, before she was doing her first solo tour. Her mom gave me a guitar pick that I turned into a necklace and wore for years. People have been posting their videos from the shows all over social media through the entire tour, which has now been going for almost 3 months. In fact, Taylor Nation encourages the use of the hashtag #tstheerastour. There’s videos of the shows left and right. I had been following the tour before I went at MetLife in the end of May, I had videos from other fans uploaded months ago bookmarked for months….still watching the day of the show. I NEVER thought there would be a problem uploading my own videos. I’ve never had so much as a copyright strike on my account. I was studying a BA in Music Industry for 2 years, so I know about this. If I thought there was going to be any issue sharing videos I took I never would have - but they were everywhere. With hundreds of thousands of views. Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, twitter, instagram. Taylor has even been liking and commenting on them. Anyway, the videos did not simply get deleted, they got my channel entirely terminated. I have had that account since 2008. I had like 500 videos that had nothing to do with Taylor, most were primarily Julien actually. Music has been my safe space my entire life. Things have been beyond rough lately. My relationship of nearly 5 years has been on the rocks for the last year but completely blew up a week before my grad school graduation from Yale. I almost skipped my own graduation. We were supposed to see Taylor together - Phoebe and Gracie Abrams were opening, also two of our favorites. I actually had tickets to Foxborough originally and sold them because I was that depressed. A week after I was able to get myself to MetLife, bought tickets 45 minutes before doors. That show was the first time in weeks I felt okay. It was a break from everything and afterwards I was able to stay happy for a little at least. I had no idea I’d end up losing my entire YouTube channel, it’s ruined everything. YouTube won’t help, UMG won’t answer me. There have been a few people I found who said the same thing happened to them, but for the most part people are saying only their videos got deleted, if anything. I’ve been blowing up their twitters from @stacey_frizzell I made an instagram account @sos_taylor_our_socials_rbanned I’m using the #sosTaylorSwift for anything related that I post and the most important request from anyone who has ever enjoyed even one video of mine I’m begging you to please write a statement, however short or long. I’m going to get to another show and track down someone from her team in person. Perhaps if they can see that other people care about the videos on my channel that have nothing to do with Taylor they will at least let me have my page back. Within 12 hours of my channel getting deleted I had someone find my TikTok and ask if I was the same person, telling me they had my page bookmarked and woke up devastated to see it was gone (I mean same lol). I’m praying and willing to try anything right now. YouTube says my only chance is getting UMG to tell them I can have it back. submitted by gymnasticsprincess to JulienBaker [link] [comments] |

2023.06.10 05:27 ToIrrelevantlyOpine The proliferation of renting out America.
I see a lot of people talking about how bad AirBNB is, but I don't ever hear anyone discussing the broader macro trends behind the surge in STR in general.
You really have to study the fact that there are so many people looking to rent out houses as de facto hotel rooms, meaning that much of America is just an amusement park for people with money. Towns with crippled economies that used to depend on strong local industries now have multi-generational wealth tied up in providing rentals for foreign nationals and big city high income professionals who want to come tour their once bustling regions.
The degree of American decline that must be present for this to happen is staggering, because it means that there were no families in need of the housing, nobody really taking advantage of the land, nobody creating anything or bringing it to market... and no other source of comparable income.
America feels like an abandoned circuit city building sometimes and AirBNB is just the Spirit Halloween store that is taking advantage of the free real estate.
A country that basically is willing to rent its most intimate, coveted communities out to anyone with a pulse because, well, to hell with it... isn't a strong, healthy country. There's not really a housing crisis, per se.
There's just a country that increasingly is just a place for people from real countries to come and visit, quaint like a little pub in England, toothless and fun with a McDonalds and a quirky coffee shop around every corner.
It's amazing to be living through such times and have almost nobody discuss these things openly. Almost like a daydream that you're experiencing that you can't bring yourself to realize is your actual life unfolding, like a spectator to what is transpiring in our own world. And I can't make anyone see it. And perhaps you won't see it either?

2023.06.10 05:25 RaxteranOG [Hersheypark] 6/9/2023, Confirming the Cat's #1
First ever trip report for me, only just getting back into coasters after regular life got in the way for a decade and I decided to start with a season pass to my home park (this isn't my first visit of the season, but probably the best so far). Today's chilly weather + being a Friday in June meant relatively short lines and I took full advantage to nab multi-rides on some favorites and to grab my last 2 credits in the park.
Wildcat's Revenge x5: Got to ride this in the passholder preview event and was pretty hype on it then, but didn't want to say too much after only one ride. Now that I'm up to 6 I can confidently say this is my new favorite in the park. The relentless pacing packaged with the great variety of forces, glass smooth ride, comfortable restraints, and solid ops makes it really tough for Skyrush to compete, despite the soft spot in my heart for it. Love how this thing gets even more wild as the day goes on, too, even on a chilly rainy day. Only downsides today were that it was down for extended inspections in the morning and didn't start running until about 12:30, and it did have one breakdown in the afternoon and some folks were stuck on the brake run for ~15 minutes. For only being open a week, it's to be expected. 10/10
Skyrush x2: Was absolutely flying today despite the weather, almost felt like it was trying its best to keep the top spot. I actually grayed out a bit which hasn't happened since the first few times I rode it. Still easily #2 in the park and I will always make time for it. Closed due to rain later in the day and as far as I could tell it never reopened. 9.5/10
Storm Runner x4: The launch and flying snake dive are still some of my all-time favorite experiences and I can easily keep getting back in line when it's running well. This also closed for the rain today, but fortunately I was nearby when they ran the first test train to reopen it. At that point in the evening no one was around so it was a walk-on. Yes, please! 9/10
Candymonium x2: Unusual two rides in one day. Not many folks showed up for sweet start so I was able to get on twice first thing in the morning. I love this ride and I always feel bad that it barely makes my top 5 in the park. It's the best at what got me into coasters in the first place - smooth endless floater airtime and a fantastic first drop. I really wish they'd figure out a way to improve ops here so that I could get more rides on a normal day, but in fair weather it's averaging a 2 hour wait. 8.5/10
Fahrenheit: Another solid ride that is plagued by long lines. Even today I only did it once (and mostly because it was still running in the rain). 7.5/10
Lightning Racer x2: I did both sides as is tradition, even though Thunder is better. Still the best woodies in the park and fantastic rides on their own merit, though they're definitely a lot rougher than they were when I was a kid. Hoping we might see a full retrack at some point to preserve this awesome layout for the long term. 8/10
Great Bear: They were only running one train today which took me by surprise because they've had two going for all but my very first visit this season. Still a fantastic ride, the first drop and the terrain segment by the river and SDL are near and dear to me. This used to be my favorite in the park long, long ago and I still give it the respect it deserves. 7.5/10
Jolly Rancher Remix: Today was my first time riding this, including when it was Sidewinder. The line always seemed too long and the ride seemed too lame. Today's short lines gave me an opportunity to find out that it's not a bad ride. The new theming probably helps, but even the ride experience is certainly worth waiting 15-20 minutes for. Pleasantly surprised and I can check Vekoma boomerang off my list. 6/10
Wild Mouse: This is another one I always skipped, for the same reasons as Jolly Rancher, but it's a great little ride and I'm glad that I got it in as I understand they're in the process of trying to sell it. 5.5/10
Did Not Ride Today:
Laff Trakk 6/10
Comet 7/10
SooperDooperLooper 5.5/10
Trailblazer 6/10

2023.06.10 05:22 chaifrog1828 6mo puppy stranger reactive
Hi! New dog mom here. I have a 6mo pit mix who has been a dream so far (training has been easy, loves other dogs, loves his crate). He has been R+ trained (just his basics) and is a dream on the leash. He has had two negative interactions with people running up from behind us on walks and being obnoxiously loud to say hi but otherwise nothing.
The only problem is that he's showing signs of fear-based stranger reactivity. He has been heavily socialized (letting people give him treats while out and about, meeting new family members in and outside the home, ignoring people on walks) but about a month and a half ago, he started freaking out when people pay attention to him (except for household members).
Nothing has changed in his routine and I know he's starting to reach his second fear period/adolescence but I'm not sure how to approach this. He bark-yells when people acknowledge him (specifically try to pet him or give him a treat, although sometimes he freaks if they talk to him).
I did order a nervous dog leash and leash flag so people stop sticking their hands in his face without permission, and I am planning on increasing the amount of little socialization we do (ie, sitting in parking lots or at the park) but is there anything else I should be doing?
As I said, this is my first dog so I just want to make sure I'm doing right by him. Any and all advice is appreciated!

2023.06.10 05:21 Lightness234 The Notch Problem
So as an older Minecraft player (1.6) i took a look at 1.20 update and played some of it before coming to a conclusion;
Minecraft has a Notch Problem.
Minecraft under the previous director Notch’s direction was treated as an incomplete game, where as soon after the director change the updates started to treat Minecraft as a finished product who just needs a few polish amd tweaks to become top Notch.
Current updates aim to expand upon established features more than adding or changing fundamentals, the mobs are mostly vanity and convenience, most content is “vertical” progression, even the new endgame gear, Netherite, is just an mmo tier endgame grinding rather than a progression of the player.
Minecraft’s building and crafting theme has shifted more towards adventure and exploration, slowly turning Minecraft from a Sandbox to a Theme Park, the rate of which i have personally came across objects of interest has been increased for about 100 times now!
Before, most of the world was mundane but there were cool stuff out there so you could set out for an adventure! Tame a horse if you were lucky to find one or ride a pig across multiple biomes to finally find a village or a sand temple to reap the rewards on a long journey (often leading to losing everything due to dying in the middle of the nowhere or losing your home), and these made for exciting storied to share with your friends!
Where as now i feel like everything is at an arm’s reach, like an amusement park, most of my conversations with friends is of you have seen X yet or not? Rather than talking about said X and our unique interactions with it, it’s simply a checklist to be crossed kind of like a ride at an amusement park.
I think as time goes on and generations move forward Minecraft will fade to obscurity little by little due to there being nothing to really talk about other than one time discussions or exchange of information.
But those are all my opinions, what do you think dear players?

2023.06.10 05:05 389Tman389 [Fun Spot Atlanta] 9 June 2023 Trip Report
| Today I woke up at dawn to fly across the country to Atlanta and start this years road trip. Got a few warmups with the comically fast and janky Sky Trains at the Dallas and Atlanta airports before heading straight to Fun Spot Atlanta. The approach to the park is incredible, there’s nothing but trees all around until BAM a 15 million dollar RMC pops out in the distance. Parking was free today which was nice, so within 10 minutes of arriving we were already on ArieForce One (x6). The ops were incredibly slow with one train and the long list of tasks the 2 ride ops had to handle, but it didn’t matter and we marathoned the crap out of it! If anything the break was necessary so our shins didn’t get cut off from the crazy airtime. ArieForce One is definitely a front row ride in all aspects other than the first drop. The airtime, sense of speed, and inversions hit much harder with a higher quality in the front. Coming into the Raven truss dive you get ejected out of our seat, and the massive over bank lifts you up with a decent intensity as well. I was surprised at how insane the first zero g roll over the arcade was and how manageable the ending airtime hills were. To give my shins a break we went and rode the lovable E&F Miler jank that was Hurricane (x1) and Sea Serpent (x1). Hurricane had some super comfortable seats but the sharp turns were a little painful on the legs. They may be old but those E&F hurricane rides are a lot of fun. Sea Serpent was most interesting to me because they have the ride raised on some wood pallets which looks pretty strange to me. It’s incredible to me that you can marathon a coaster as good as ArieForce (until your shins can’t take it anymore) so easily. There were quite a few people at the park on a Friday night as well so all the coasters were full every time they were run. I really hope this works out for Fun Spot. I’m rooting for them. Anyways next up is a first visit to SFOG after an incredible start to the trip submitted by 389Tman389 to rollercoasters [link] [comments] |
